Me too. I really do love the idea of LC, just not the boat ride to and from. I'm concerned that I will be full of nerves and the boat ride just might send me over the edge if ya know what I mean. However, we figure at the very least it is definitely worth checking out and would be a fun group tour to do. Nicole just sent over the proposal for 40 people and I am very pleasantly surprised at the cost!!! It definitely sounds like a great option.

QUESTION: How many of you received hesitation from your guests about the boat ride?? That is my main concern right now.

My mom gets super sick from motion sickness. She did the Rhythms of the Night tour last time she was in PV and loved it. She didn't get sick at all. She didn't even take anything for it, so I don't know if that was a fluke thing.

I'm concerned about getting sick, but I'm going over on the morning boat so I will have quite a bit of time to recover. So far my grandmother has been the only one to express concern, besides me. haha

I thought I was going to be ok until I watched Linday's video. It was rough! But if you do a day trip there, you will see what it's like.

Most guests have completely overlooked the boat journey and concentrated on the 7 hours of open bar. :)

ditto! Paul's mom got a little queasy on the way over (not sure if she got sick or not) but never complained at all. Nobody expressed concern to us - I think they were more focused on the fun, positive aspects of the evening. It just wasn't a huge deal to our group - or at least nobody made me aware of it!

No hesitation really, everyone thought the idea was so freakin awesome that they were going whether they got sick or not.

MOH was only on a boat once before and got sick so she was on edge for our boat. She was nervous the whole cab ride to the marina. She took the dramamine, but still got sick. Later we found out she snuck 2 more so she took 3 pills for the 1 hr boat ride!! She basically overdosed and I think that's why she threw up....she also was falling asleep. Duh smile105.gif

So tell your guests to take drugs according to the label....except the whole avoiding alcohol thing, you gotta drink! LOL Our other sick people refused dramamine. BUT, the good thing about seasickness - if it happens - is you feel better as soon as you step on terra firma.....hopefully yours will be a smooth ride!

I usually get boat sick so I stayed on the main level of the boat. It worked for me and I didn't get queezey(sp) on the way there or back.

Jamie i think you will fall inlove with L.C in person too.... I sure did

  • 2 weeks later...

Well when we showed the pics to my Grandparents yesterday they both expressed quite a bit of concern on going over on the boat. My Grandma said "We come from a family full of motion sick people". She said she will support whatever we decide but I still feel like they really don't want us to have it there. They keep coming up with things like "What if ppl get sick? What if they need to come back early?, What if they get hurt? What if the weather is bad?"

I love my Grandparents to death (they helped raise me growing up so they're like a second set of parents) but my Grandma really made me upset yesterday! It was really hard to move past that and focus on enjoying the rest of Christmas. We haven't told Martin's parents about it yet. Honestly I'm also afraid of all the older or sickly people (FI's aunt just had brain surgery and they want to come) walking around the island in the dark. And now if someone does get seasick or whatever I'll feel really guilty. I honestly haven't made my decision but I almost want to have it there just to spite my Grandparents now - isn't that horrible?! Martin is really pushing for LC but I do still want to discuss other options (Terra Noble, Mayan Palace) and I feel like he is somewhat close minded on the issue. I know I can't please everyone but a BIG thing to us both is that the majority of our immediate family comes and I'm afraid that some that were for sure coming might not come if they know there's a boat ride involved...

Shoot....I know how much it sucks when others aren't as excited as you are and kind of shoot you down. They mean well, of course, but this whole DW thing is new to a lot of people...especially of your grandparents' generation.

Will it help if you share the experiences of people here, and how most did not get sick?

Also, once at LC if there is an emergency of sorts where someone must leave, they can arrange that. If it rains, there are covered areas on the boat as well as covered areas at LC that the ceremony/reception can be held. If you end up at LC I'm sure they will change their tune once they see it.

Why not leave out small details about the boat trip, so that people don't freak out. Or just inform them that there is no reason to worry because Dramamine or other motion sickness stuff is available. Also, try showing pictures of LC. My family was a bit concerned, but when they saw the pictures of the area they completely forgot about the ride over.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
