DIY invitations - adhesive + many layers

Recommended Posts

There is one invitation designer who offers a 15% off rate for DIY option - she basically cuts all the layers, prints, and send you all the pieces for you to put together yourself. Problem is there are about 4 layers for the main invitation part and 2 for the insert and rsvp and I need 150 invites (I know - ridiculous, but my mom insisted I invite all our long lost relatives, etc.)

So once I finally decided ok, it is worth paying that 15% for the designer to do it, she told me she won't be able to get them to me until mid-Feb, whereas if I choose the DIY option, I can get them by the 3rd wk of Jan. I need to give my site the final count by March 15th, so I feel like sending out my invites mid-Feb would be too late, especially since once I get them I'll still have to address them.

So I'm wondering for those DIYers, how hard was it to put layers together and how long did it take per layer or per invite?

THANKS!

I guess I would have to ask if you need to just glue/tape them or are they secured with ribbon? It is pretty hard today for sure but you could get a bunch of friends together and just power through it. I agree with you that getting them out sooner would be nice for you and for your guests.

Great idea! bunny_4.gif I completely agree ... gather a few girlfriends for the task .... it will go by faster than you think --- you'll get a system down and you'll be done before you know it! Good luck --- I can't wait to see them when you're done!

BTW --- Stephanie - I love your new siggy pic (which may not be that new, but I wasn't on so much in December ...)! It's super-cute!

I have one of those glue-runners, or something like it, and they are great!

What is the company you are using for these invites? I like the idea of doing it myself, but am afraid of the actual printing part...
