ok tammy, don't get mad but here is my opnion...

i don't really like the idea of the frames on the cake for a bunch of reasons:

1. do not like cake out on the table...

a. the cake will get funny and melty outdoors...

b. it will take up table space when dinner is served.

2. when people are done eating the cake they will have frames that are kind of sticky.

3. i think the idea of a mini cake is so cute and just having a simple flower or shells will be so pretty that the frame will take away from that.

what about just having the frames on the table to help with seating/whatever...and the cakes to be served after dinner....then there will be the ahhhs...when they all come out...stagger the good surpises.

Hmm,, Tammy you gave me some stuff to think about. I heard that Fondent (? spelling) is good for outdoor weddings, so I heard it won't melt. (not sure if that is true)

BUT, I didn't think of the frames being sticky and with chocolate on them. Hmm I would almost have to supply something to "clean" them off so that they wouldn't be.

Here is a picture of what it "could" look like at the tables.

Why not just some candy shells on top?

Fondant is NOT tasty.

The Candy shells was actually our orginally idea, but with a chocolate cake and white seashells I'm just not sure how it would look..

I've never tasted Fondant,, It's not good huh?

Well, I'm joining up late, Tammy- darn sleeping sooo gets in the way of timely posting!

Anyway, my thoughts:

* Fondant- makes a beautiful cake, tastes not so great!

* Frame on cake- while a very cute idea, I also agree with Tammy host that the picture frames will be very sticky and the cakes will get in the way during dinner. I think having individual cakes for each guest is such an unexpected gesture that it should be its own special presentation- more WOW factor that way! I really like the frames you've picked though, so I would definitely include them on the tables.

* Chocolate with chocolate- I love the idea of the cakes sitting in brown sugar to look like sand. I did a quick search on the knot and here are some that i came up with:

This first one is my favorite, I love the white flower on the top of the cake!

Thanks Sarah.. Yeah after I thought about what Tammy said about the frames being messy in the cake, I think I'll have to figure something else out. I think I may just end up doing the orginal plan of two candy shells on the top of the cake (in white) and one on the side (white) sitting on sand (aka sugar) with a few pearls here and there.

But I really do like those place cards,,, hmm I'll have to think about this whole idea more..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
