Just got back last night from the resort and if you haven't been there yet your going to love it.  What a beautiful place.  The staff is wonderful and most will be staying on when it becomes the Westin.  I met with Lucia the WC who took us on a tour of the resort showing us the different options for both the wedding and the reception.   We decided that we would get married on the white sand beach (there are 3 different types, white sand, shell thus the name playa conchal, and then a black beach.)  All are very beautiful.  For our reception we will be having it at the 19th hole  which is at the main lobby, it has a beautiful view of the entire grounds.

As far as details about making reservations they have no idea at the resort about when anyone will be able to do this.  When I contacted Starwood they said contact the resort, at the resort they tell you they don't have any information yet. Just a big circle of nobody knows anything.  Not the fault of the resort everyone down there really wants to help. I blame the lack of communication on  Starwood. We can only hope they get better.    If this wasn't such a beautiful resort and location I might think about changing locations but the property really is WONDERFUL.  I just hope that Westing can live up to the standard the Paradisus has set because it really was top notch.  The FI kept telling me it was the nicest place he'd ever stayed and he's done alot of traveling.

Hope this helps.

I got married in April in Reserva Conchal; it's the condos that are linked to the Paradisus.  We stayed at Reserva Conchal for 1/2 of the trip and Paradisus for the other 1/2.  The food and service at teh Paradisus is not even worth it.  It was almost as though we were on a different planet and I felt like they were not accomodating.  One of the couples that attended our wedding did enjoy their stay at the Paradisus but that's only b/c they had all access VIP cards.  We purchased a suite from them and b/c we didn't have a VIP pass they didn't feel like it was necessary to be nice to us.  We asked them for an early check in afer checking out of Reserva and they declined even after we showed up w/ the top of our wedding cake and my very large wedding dress.  The lady at the front desk told me to put my dress and cake on the floor and tour the property until the room is ready, which was about 3 hour later.  I just found them to be very short and rude.  If you want slam dunk food and superior customer service, stay at the Reserva Concha.  Here are the pics from the wedding - you can see a few photos from our room at Reserva too.  http://akilbennett.net/blog/2010/09/our-wedding-in-costa-rica.html

The Reserva Conchal Beach Club is spectacular for receptions (either one, pool side or in the main restaurant area).

Conchal Beach is one of the most beautiful and photogenic locations for a wedding (without trying to sound cliche), white sand, soft surf and not so busy with people since it is so long a beach.

One of the Reserva Conchal managers had a garden ceremony with a poolside reception:

I'm kind of sad to say I will no longer be a Paradisus/Westin bride. After waiting all this time to get information about the take over and rates when it came down to it I just couldn't ask my guest to pay that much. We had decided to have our wedding at the Hilton Papagayo. I know it will be an equally nice place. On the good side now we get to have an ocean front room. Yea!!

Yea the rates almost doubled. It was going to be $500. Per night per couple, which is a lot to ask of everyone. Especially since the flights are also about $800 per person. The Hilton seems to be beautiful and the WC at the hIlton has been great.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
