Julia,

How wonderful! I'm happy to hear it! You will truly love the wedding coordinator (Paola Martinez), the site, the resort...everything!! Below is a link to the photographer I used, there are tons of pics from this area in Costa Rica, if you go to see all the albums. Album View - Lifetime Digital Imaging

We did our wedding in the Isle de Mitra, which is different than the gazebo; you will see on the photographer's website some great pics of the ceremony location. I loved it! It is just off the water, so you can hear the water and take pics on the beach...but, no wind and sand messing up your hair wink.gif It is rainy season while you are there as well, so it is nice to know that you don't have to worry about that.

As far as the favors, I did rafia fans with blue ribbon tied around the handle and orchids on the handle in each seat at the ceremony. Click the image to open in full size.

Then, each guest had an individual gift bag when they arrived to the resort. I did straw beach bags for the girls filled with lip gloss, fancy shampoo/conditioner/lotion, first aid kit, body butter, peducure kit, personalized cups with the date and location (they also changed color when cold which was cute), toys for the pool ie: beach balls, floaties (hightly recommend the floaties), and all that stuff. Then in the guys there was, shampoo/cond/lotion (different kind, Jcrew sample size), cup, water guns, first aid kit, chapstick, and other small guys stuff. In all the bags I put a post card from Costa Rica, and M&M's that we had personalized, as well as Cocktails for dummies and Spanish for dummies little books.

Hope this helps. The bags were quite the hit, and a TON of work, but very appreciated. I did personalized thank you cards on each one to each guest and then the wedding coordinator delivered them to the rooms before the guests arrived. It was great! :)

OMG i love the gift idea and might might to burrow that. Now did you bring any of that with you or did you get it out there?

I am guessing 25-30 guest and trying to be realistic on how much i'm carrying with me.

i like the watergun and floaties idea. I was thinking of like bug spray and sunblock.

I am worried about the rain but I hope its 10 minute rain and thats all. We were suppose to do Mexico but hurricanes were a concern and then with swine flu well we changed all together.

I was thinking for center pieces i might not do flower arrangments cause that might save me on money and maybe fruit decoration or something.

Thanks so much for all your help

any tips on the hotel i should know?

AmCarter,

Hi. OGP is a great location. One suggestion though, look at the tide charts as you may end up with no beach. Literally 6-8ft of sand up against rock wall and the water.

Julia,

Just wanted to share this link with you of a small wedding that took place at the Gazebo. It rained so we remained there for photos. Hope this gives you an idea. Beach is 2 mins. away.

Dear Future Mrs. L,

It may sound cliche but Playa Conchal is one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. OG Papagayo has a beautiful shorline as well, but watch the high tide which may leave you without a beach ceremony. PP Conchal is having some issues with beach weddings (ceremonies on the beach) but they have a great venue steps from the beach (Beach Club - the garden) or they have transported their guests to Flamingo for ceremonies and sunset photos sessions.

here are some photos of both locations OG Papagayo, Flamingo & Conchal:

Let me know if you have any other questions, would be glad to be of assistance.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
