location decision help!

Have you looked at Marbella's website? They have a pic gallery up so you can see what the pool/bar area looks like. It's actually pretty cool. There is a lot of meandering space around the pool and up to the restaurant/bar area. It's also pretty open to the beach, so you could spread out there if needed. I know when I visited the property, they were hosting a big frat boy retreat (ok, long story!)...any way, I'm pretty sure they had approx 100 guys that they were feeding, entertaining & packing into meeting rooms. That would be awesome if you could bring in your own liquor from Costco or something!

I fell in love with Melia San Lucas resort, the rooms were very nice and like I said it's on a beach you can swim in. However the only spot to really have a wedding is pool side and even then it would have to be a somewhat small ceremony becuase it's a thight spot. Wasn't the "look" we wanted for our wedding but its very pretty. I think Rebecca's suggestion of Villa La Estancia might be a good choice for you, it's a little pricy but might be worth it to get what your looking for.
Tammy,
The Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar is such a gorgeous spot! Some of our wedding guests stayed there and we got to see it when we dropped their welcome bag off. That will be a beautiful wedding!!

I dont' know if marbella is big enough for 90 people. It didn't seem like it to me but I guess if you did tables all around the pool it could work. It is a cute hotel and very affordable. Even their drink prices are affordable. I do have to say that the place does look better in the pictures than in real life though.

  • 3 weeks later...

We're going with Dreams - June 3, 2007! With our varied group (lots of kids-nieces/nephews, our friends who just want to have fun & parents who are hesitant to travel), the all-inclusive seemed the best option. Plus we really want everyone to be in the same place for the entire weekend. I'll be down there 1/2-1/5 for our site visit. Can't wait to actually see it!!!!

Hi Tammy,

We think we may have ~80 people...(!) Save the Dates just went out yesterday. I'm hoping to do the starfish / shell theme for our centerpieces at the reception and maybe something citrus or brighter for the rehearsal / welcome dinner (maybe even bright paper flowers for the rehearsal dinner) - I'm trying not to do much for that but a few of my friends really want to help so I'm just going to delegate if I can. For the wedding reception, I want to do a lot of candles and the tiki torches or paper lanterns too, if we can. It depends on which place at Dreams that we decide to hold the reception. I'll know more once we see it (in 2 weeks - yay!). I'd LOVE to share anything with you!! I'm going to talk to Mariana and see what she has in terms of vases or glass bowls and then decide what I'd have to buy (& see what i can get down there). I haven't figured out flowers yet either (or my colors!), but I'm waiting until I do my site visit to get more inspiration. What ideas do you have so far for your decorations? talk to you soon - Jen

Jen is this the first time you'll be in Cabo? If so you'll love it.. I fell in love with the Sheraton, didn't look at dreams but I feel like I've been there with all the weddings from this forum.. :-) SO I'm sure you'll love it as well. Right now were having our dinner at De Cortez, which is located at the Sheraton, (see below for pic) they have a candle already on their tables so we are going to incorporate them in our decorations. I'm leaning towards the starfish and green sea glass on the table instead of rose pedals. I sent Maye an email to find out if I can but them there and at what price or if it's best for to get them before I arrive. Course I change my mind several times before I finally make a perm decision.. so who knows right now..lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
