Time at wedding vs. honeymoon

If you are taking a honeymoon in a separate location (different island/country) from where you're having your wedding, how much time are you spending (or did you spend) down in your wedding destination?

And then how much time are you spending/did you spend on your honeymoon and are you going right away?

We were originally just going to switch hotels but stay in the same area but really good friends of ours are getting married in Argentina so we decided to make that our honeymoon. We will be going for one week to Mexico for the wedding and one week to Argentina for the "honeymoon". The only thing is that it will really be a pre-honeymoon since we will go 3 weeks BEFORE our wedding!! :)

we got to Mexico on Saturday, and got married the following Friday, so we were there almost a full week before the wedding. then we left for Hawaii the day after the wedding. that was one thing i'd change - i really wish we had a day after the wedding to say goodbye to people and just relax. but i also didn't feel good - so that was part of the reason!

we spent 5 days at our wedding resort and 6 at our honeymoon resort, our honeymoon resort was only about 40 minutes from the wedding resort.

Originally we thought about leaving mexico and going somewhere else, but then we would have spent too much time travelling, we wanted to spend as much time doing things as we could, not on a plane, so thats why we decided to just move from cancun to playa del carmen area.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
