Invitation after guest replies no to STD?

Recommended Posts

I sent out a STD email this week b/c my wedding is in the beginning of May and I'm running out of time. I'm hoping to send invitations at the end of January (how long do they take to order?), but I've already gotten some emails from guests saying that they are sorry they won't be able to make it due to various reasons (other plans, travel conflicts, etc.). Do I still send a proper invitation to these people as it seems like the nice thing to do, or will they see it as me trying to obligate them into send a gift or something?

I think it depends on the person. If my grandma said no, I would still send her an invitation. If you invited people that are acquintances or coworkers, then I personally wouldn't spend the money to send them an invite. That might not be the correct etiquette but I'm cheap. lol :)

But if I invite 30 people and only 10 said no and the minimum order of invites is 25 I would order all 30 to send out of politeness. But if it's going to cost you a lot more, then I wouldn't do it.

As for how long it takes to order invites, some places require 4 weeks for ordering. I'd look at their website for some kind of disclaimer. Most have it there. If you are unsure of it getting here in time, then I would call and talk to the company to ensure they can do it short notice.

I am sending them, but instead of an RSVP I am writing a personalized note which expresses my sadness that they won't be able to make it, but that I completely understand and we will be thinking of them on our day.

I would say YES send them, because what if their plans change between now and the RSVP date and they can actually make it? That way they know they are wanted. I do really like Tlseege's idea of the personal note, maybe saying that just in case their plans change you would love to have them or something.

i love the idea of the personal note too, and just like abbie said, you can add in there something like if their plans change, youd still love to have them, if not, then youll be thinking of them!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
