Private Reception vs. Dinner Reservations

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am a Moon Palace Bride and I'm torn between PAYING extra for a private reception or just doing the dinner that they provide. Has anyone actually done the dinner?? I mean I want it to be exclusive to our wedding party - There are about 30 people coming - Just wondered what everyone was doing!

Hi,

I'm also getting married at MP, actually the week after you!

We are doing the private reception. We were happy to do the dinner thing, but my dad REALLY wants dancing and such so we figured we'd just suck it up and pay the additional cost. I've heard great reviews either way, I guess it just depends what you're looking for!

Best of luck!

claire

Oh thanks. This is the main problem I'm finding. We are going to have at least 50 people come. Do you know of any resorts off hand that cater to large group weddings.

I'm trying to do this really inexpensively, so we don't have to have our parents help and we don't have to go into debt.

Dreams, el dorado, palace resorts...most of the larger resorts.

Moon Palace would be really affordable because they do not charge an extra fee for the private event and it is all-inclusive.

Dreams cancun does a nice reception at a great price. el dorado is a little more expensive but they also have beautiful events.

Please let me know what you go with and how it goes. My FI is really against paying $40-$60 per head for a dinner at an all-inclusive and thinks its ridiculous. But I don't want to have a crappy reception either! We are going with Dreams Cancun and I'm hoping I can come up with some kind of comprimise....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
