Hi everyone!

Well our trip to St. Thomas was awesome! It was way too short, and we didn't want to leave. We stayed at the Marriott, which was excellant... We had booked a cheap room through expedia but when we checked in they upgraded us to a Morningstar room right on the beach! It was gorgeous.

The first day we rented a Jeep and checked out some of the hotels and wedding venues we had researched.... Wyndham, Bolongo, Secret Harbour....

Then we had a tour with a coordinator through the Marriott who showed us their facilities and wedding spots...April was super friendly and we loved her. After that we met LEslie from Perfect Weddings who showed us Villa Botanica, Magen's Beach, St. Peter Greathouse, and a couple other places.

We really loved Villa Botanica, and if our wedding was a little larger we probably would have chosen that but the Marriott had more of what we needed in one spot, and we could cut costs of transportation, etc.

The Marriott has a pretty gazebo overlooking the ocean and plenty of good photo places: rocky point, beach, green oval area.... We plan on a cocktail hour after the ceremony while we take pictures, and then we will have our dinner reception at Havana Blue...which is walking distance from the ceremony. It'll be nice if guests need to go to their rooms for anything or want to change.

Elizabeth from Havana Blue was awesome as well and gave us plenty of options as far as how to do our reception there.... We might even have a little beach party after dinner with tiki torches and a mini-bar.

Other restaraunts we tried were Mafolie, and East End Cafe...both were good, but couldn't compare to Havana Blue.

So I'm so relieved we have everything booked and now I'm working on Save the Dates. I'm doing them through Allurements by Rebecca- She is unbelievable! I love her!

Well that's about it for now.... feel free to message me if anyone has any questions about places I saw, etc... HAPPY PLANNING!

Hi,

I recently joined and am loving this forum....very helpful so far!

We're considering St Thomas in Sept 2010....are we dumb for planning during hurricane season? Has anyone been there during Sept / Oct? We're thinking of visiting this Sept to check out some hotels but I'm feeling impatient and want to get a feel for what to expect.

Thanks!

I got married at the Marriott and had my reception at Havana Blue last December. Both April and Elizabeth are AMAZING! Let me know if you have any questions. Our guests loved both the Marriott and Havana Blue. I can also send you a link to our pictures as well.

Good Luck!

Kim- I would LOVE to ask you some questions! I'm so glad you dealt with April and Elizabeth! We really loved both of them. Did you do a buy-out at Havana Blue? We probably don't have enough people for that so my only concern is not being able to bring a band/music and not having dancing... what did you do? Elizabeth had mentioned being able to do a little dance party on the beach after dinner which sounds fun.... Do you know who your photographer was? I'd love to see your pictures if you don't mind! Please email me stephaniejphipps at gmail.com Thanks so much

Hi everyone!

We are getting married on St. Thomas in May of 2010 and we are looking for a pretty grassy area by the beach. We are working with Janelle from Island Bliss and she suggested Lime Tree Beach (Blue Beard's beach) or Oceana restaurant. Does anyone have any info on either of these? We were originally going to go with Oceana for ceremony and reception dinner but then we found out we would have to rent out the whole place to have music there (which isn't feasible since we are only going to have probably 20 people). Any pro's/con's for either location would be greatly appreciated!

Also, any reception ideas if we went with Lime Tree?

Hey Nate I'm working with Janelle as well. While i've never visited either place I really wanted to get married on Limetree beach but bc my wedding is on a tues we decided against it (due to carnival's beach party). From the pics I saw that would be a very beautiful place to be married. I especially liked the idea of the grassy area as well as the beach...

Happy Planning.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, everyone! We are booking our cruise on the Emerald today! We will be getting married on St. Thomas on Thursday, March 18th, 2010. We are still trying to decide on a location right now. Cheryl , our WC, has suggested Limetree (Bluebeard's) Beach for it's combination of facilities and privacy. Do any of you know more? All the pictures from everywhere on the island are beautiful, I just wonder about the actual "mood" of each place!

Best of luck to all of you in your planning! smile03.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
