Local Activities for Riviera Maya on your website

Recommended Posts

If you have a website that has a Local Activities page, please share it with me - I"m running out of time and I haven't actually gone to any of the local activities such as Xel Ha, Tulum ruins, or Coba, so if you can recommend your favorites as well and also if anyone knows cheaper ways to go too, that would be great. I'll research on Google and tripadvisor too, I just thought it might be faster if you already have it done :).

Thanks!

This is my "adventures" page on my website. I will be doing more extensive research later that I can share, but I haven't done it yet. Jason Lambert started a thread on the forum that had great info about activities in RM. I'll PM you my website if you want to snag any of the pictures off of it. I have a picture next to each adventure.

Morgan (or anyone else) - Have you been to Xcaret, Xel-Ha, or Hidden Worlds? Is Xel Ha tons better than Xcaret? Xcaret is closer to my hotel, but I fear the word "theme park"...Also cenotes seem special to the area, so Hidden Worlds seems like a good option to push people towards - but has anyone been there or perhaps planned a group trip?

OH MY! Joe and I went over the summer for vacation, to Riviera Maya and loved it. We went to Xel-ha and LOVED it. I wish I would have known about it earlier in the week b/c one day wasn't enough. It's awesome, they have snorkling, live parrots just hanging out, lil outside restaurant/bars, shops, hammocks, dolphins! We went snorkling and the water was perfect, it was great, I can't rave enough. It's great. I have not heard anything about Xcarat but I'm sure it's great too, and very similar. DEF try to make a day trip or two there. Depending on how far it is from your hotel, I'd suggest just getting a cab. They hae buses BUT the bus stops at other hotels and picks up people so it can take an hour or more to get there verses 20 minutes... got me? Oh have FUN!pinkie.gif

I have not been to any of these places. I went to cancun in high school, but we were only there 2 nights so we just had time for one activity. We rode horses on the beach. This time I want to snorkel at a lagoon near the hotel, zipline, go to tulum, and maybe deep sea fish.

Xcaret & Xel-ha are the same company. I've heard they are great, but can be a little touristy for some people. There are really mixed reviews. maybe it depends on if someone was there on a crowded day or not. I've also heard it's over priced for snorkeling, etc. when you can just go down to a nice lagoon & snorkel where it isn't a crowded.

I know a lot of our guests want to go to Xcaret, but I would prefer to go somewhere else less crowded. It also bothers me that they advertise themself as an ecofriendly place & then they have a swim with the dolphins program.

I heard about hidden world from jason who said it was great. I'll try to dig up his review of activities. It was really useful.

Many people on the forum have said the alltournative tours are wonderful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
