St. Thomas, USVI places to go, things to do

AI in St. Thomas is fairly limited-

4.5 star Marriott Frenchmans Reef & Morning Star Beach Resort (optional AI)

4 star Wyndham Sugar Bay (optional AI)

3 star Bolongo Bay (under going rennovations)

I believe Caneel Bay in St. John also has an optional AI! If you are looking for a beautiful location & private this is a good choice).

What kind of things are you interested in? Water activities, hikes ect?

I dont want to go to a place where there are alot of little kids running around, I just want to relax, lay on the beach, snorkel. I would love to go on a island tour or somethign like that. I was thinking Sandals, but that is couples only and I want my family to stay at the same resort we are at. atleast for a few days. we will need our alone time. :)

Sandals resorts are only on the islands of Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia & Bahamas. There is a Beaches (Sandals family resort) resort in Turks & Caicos.

I was just talking to my Sandals sales rep and she was telling me that she considers the water in Turks & Caicos to be the most stunning out of any that she has seen anywhere! However depending on time of year (May & September are pretty quiet) there will be quite a few kids running around! Plus you'll need passorts.

When we were in St Thomas, it was pretty... ummm, kid infested?! I mean it wasn't like being at Disney or anything, but every resort/hotel we went to (to visit guests) there were kids present. So IDK if St Thomas would totally be your scene... Not to discourage you, because we had a blast there and plan to go back soon. But you might want to consider another island with adult only resorts if no kids is something that's important.

I went to the USVI earlier this year and loved it (well almost all of it). I didn't prefer St. Thomas as much but we stayed on St. John at the Estate Lindholm and I loved everything about it. Although it is not an all-inclusive, it was a beautiful place and the owners are fabulous. We also did a boat tour of the BVIs through New Horizons. Although the beaches on St John were fabulous, the boat tour was the highlight of the trip!!

HI! We went to St. Thomas several years ago and loved it! We wanted to get married there but our TA discouraged it because of the AI situation. We have already stayed at the Marriot. When we stayed there, we did not go the AI route. I personally don't think that you should do that. The food was just ok, there were not many options on the menu. That being said, I loved ST thomas and ST john. Especially St. JOhn! When I go back, I would defintely go back to st john! We loved it, it was awesome! On St. Thomas, I would recommend eating at Couzins in town. It rocks! When we were there, it was not really the height of cruise ship season so things were really closed except when the ships came in, the stores and everything. Plus, it was hard to find a ferry to St. John, just something to keep in mind. But it was beautiful and we want to go back and like I said, I would love to get married there! Good luck!

St. John is one of my most favorite places on earth- the other is Jost Van Dyke in the BVI's. Caneel Bay is beautiful and there aren't many kids, but it isn't exactly affordable.... I think the Westin might have an AI plan and it is a little more affordable, but St. John as a whole is more expensive than St. Thomas. We were originally planning on being married on St. John but our plans have changed a bit.

St. Croix has more AI's and it is very much up-and-coming. I haven't been there, but I've heard all good things recently. I am definitely a Virgin Islands fan!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
