Sorry, I'm not going to be much help. Even though I've been to Negril, but not for a wedding. Anyhow, I think Toni (phillygal(i think)) is seeking a similar location in Negril for a private reception. Maybe you guys can get together and share what you find. Also, maybe TA Jennifer can chime in as she recently visited Negril and would be waaaay more help than what I can offer. lol

I just got back from Negril and while we were there we ate at Kuyaba and I said that I definitely wanted to have my rehearsal dinner there. I don't know how many people they can accomodate. Hopefully a lot since I plan on having at least 40 people. You can look at their website to see pics. It's KUYABA: just a glimpse. The food, the service and the atmosphere were absolutely incredible. Can I ask how you decided on the Rockhouse? Are you getting married there also, or just staying there? I am in the beginning planning stage and think we've decided on the Riu Negril (we have kids coming) to stay but we're trying to locate a private beach for our reception...

ok heres the email from my bride. shes going there next month for her site visit. she said it was ok for me to give you her email so if you want it just email me - [email protected] - good luck! hth.

Pirates Cave seems to be a popular one since it is right next to the Rockhouse. Some girls i have talked to says Kayuba is really good but it is expensive. Three Dives- i think you can bring your own coolers of beer to this place. Very laid back atmosphere. Im pretty sure it is 3 dives that does this.

Two more.....

Irie on the beach

Normas

Oh!! if she wants i can get her some brochures when we are there and mail them to her. Tell her to check this out if she has not yet Rockhouse Hotel (Negril, Jamaica) - Hotel Reviews - TripAdvisor

tell her to set up an account of the "negril forum" on the left side of the page

and she can talk to lots of people.

Ladies,

I have contacted the events coordinator at Kuyaba, Leonie, and she sent me the menus (if you want to see them let me know). I wanted to find a spot to do a private bonfire and she said I could, but only if I reserved the entire restaurant which is $2500 not including food! So, I am going to ask dear-ol' mom to see if she wants to host the welcome dinner! If not, I am considering either renting a private villa for one night and bring in caterers or do a 'welcome cocktail hour reception' with just drinks and appetizers somewhere.

PhillyGal:

I have alwayas wanted to vacation at the Rockhouse from reading reviews over the years, so when I got engaged in June of this year, that was the first place I called! They only do 20 weddings a year, and they only had 2 slots left for 2008 which both are were in September! I didn't care if it was during hurricane season, I grabbed Sept. 20! So we blocked the rooms of the entire hotel (they have 35 rooms). I am very excited!

Leigh:

I think I will check out Pirates Cave and I heard Normas was good. Let me know what your bride comes back with.

THANKS LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure how fancy you were looking to go with the rehearsal - but there's a great jerk chicken place on the cliffs a little ways down from the Rockhouse that you can do a rehearsal at. They also do a bonfire on the edge of the cliff as well - nice sunsets. It's called 3 Dives - run by Lydie - very casual picnic type of vibe.

Norma's on the Beach was really good. We also at an Italian place called Mariposa. The only thing is that you would have to cab it to the beach from the cliffs. We got married in Ocho Rios, but we honeymooned at Tensing Pen near Rockhouse. We did eat at Rockhouse a few times, though and it was great.

Someone already recommended 3 dives. They had THE BEST meal I ate in Jamaica and I stayed at Rockhouse (my fiancee works there!) LOVED it, the only place I returned to. My welcome dinner will be at Rockhouse and the wedding at Tensing Pen, but I would have jumped to have a casual family dinner around picnic tables with a bonfire at 3 Dives.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
