It's a combination of things. I'm still sick but I think I could swing it. However, we have some looming financial things that we just found out about. Also, we were planning on adopting a puppy (have everything set up for it) just after we returned and I'm not sure we can do both now with the information we just received.

I just checked our school calendar and it looks like we will have off from May 3-26th. That should be plenty of time to save up the money and reschedule our site visit.

Everything just seems so rushed. We need to decide ASAP if we are going to reschedule or not. I've been bawling my eyes out (lol, I'm a girl of course cheesy.gif) trying to figure this out. Even if we go up there right now there's no way we can pay for a deposit on the site right now. However, I am afraid that if we don't go now we won't get to go in time to book the date we want, and I refuse to book site unseen.

It's a long story and there's so much more to this. I'm so conflicted right now. My Dad just called and said to go ahead and go but I feel bad about going when we're having a hard time financially. Since I'm still in college my Dad helps out a LOT with bills, etc. but this trip had come out of Martin and mine's own money. I know it would help my dad out a ton though if we gave him the money.

If this sounds confusing, it is. Martin and I are both totally confused on what to do - we've gone back and forth about 10 times in the last hour, lol.

I've just got to have faith that it will all work out the way it's supposed to.

Wow Jamie. That's a lot on your plate. I'm sure you will make the right decision.

I know your determined to have a site visit, but just from my perspective, it hasn't been worrisome planning the wedding without one. I have never been to Las Caletas and I haven't been too concerned about it either. It looks beautiful and sounds beautiful. This forum has helped disappate any worries that I did have. Believe me, before this forum I used to worry that I was being scammed somehow (funny I know, but FI and I are such gullible people. We almost always take the person's word for it.)

I somewhat know how you feel when it comes to money too. My parents are paying for nearly half our wedding and FI and I are going to Las Vegas next month. We will probably get legally married while we are there, but still...I feel bad that my parents are paying for half of the wedding since I'm barely out of school and we are taking OUR money and having fun with it. They don't seem to care and encourage us to have fun (hey, that's parents. They want the best for their children.) I feel bad though.

Hang in there. :)

Thanks Rachel!

Well guys, Martin and I just made our decision...

Drum roll please..............

WE'RE GOING!!!!!!! Off to work tonight and then packing our bags tomorrow.

And we've decided not to get each other anymore gifts and make the puppy our Christmas present. We've already asked for Petsmart giftcards for Xmas, hahah. (And I'm putting money in the puppy fund for "just in case" incidences.) Our main guilty pleasure was going out to dinner and for drinks (like almost every night!) so we are stopping that RIGHT NOW and making dinner at home. Grocery store and cooking books here I come!!! LOL I'm also going to give my dad some money today just to help ease things. Basically we really just need to switch our priorities around. Ahhh, growing up.

Anyways, I am so excited. Trying not to feel guilty at all. But this is something we both really want to do and feel it is necessary if at all possible so we're going to make it happen!

The best thing is we've learned something from all of this. cheer2.gif

Now, time to go make some sales tonight!

Thanks for everyone's support and sorry for the false alarm. grouphug.gif

Yah!! Have fun Jamie. I still want to see pics!

Steve and I go to dinner like every night too. We are horrible, but we both hate to cook and clean dishes. So pathetic. Since planning the wedding I've tried to be better, but I've noticed Subway has been our new eating out place. At least it's somewhat cheaper. :)

Post pics of the puppy too! Gosh I love em.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
