Riu Vallarta and RIU Jalisco Review

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I wanted to ask about the Riu Jalisco and anyone staying there. We were told we'd have shuttle service from the airport to the resort and then back to the airport. Did anyone find that to be a problem. Where were the shuttles and who do we look for in terms of the type of shuttle. Does anyone knowhuh.gif TY Ahead of Timesmile36.gif

I can't speak for either of the RIU hotels as we only toured them and didn't stay there, but we did stay in Nuevo Vallarta and took a taxi to the airport. The ride there was maybe $10 I think. The taxi's leaving the airport are more expensive. They are a different company and charge more. It has to do with the taxi companies. We were told that there are three companies in PV. One is for Nuevo Vallarta (they are white), threre are ones from downtown (they are yellow) and there are some at the airport. (not sure what color). The white ones can only take you into town. The yellow ones can only bring you back. It is a territorial thing I guess. At the hotels all you do is tell the bellman you need a taxi. They radio them, and within minutes they are there. The taxi's are readily available at the hotels in Nuevo Vallarta. Of course you always pay more if you are a large group.

Hope that helps!

Yes there is. As long as you have a confirmation # from either of the Rius with your reservation information, you may take the shuttle for free. I think they operate every hour or so. As needed based on demand. My MOH used them and it worked out fine. They wear Red Riu shirts and you'll see them holding a sign up that says "RIU guests" at the airport. Then they take your luggage on the big bus to the Riu.

Yes, we have some pics of both hotels. However with the holidays and stuff, we haven't had them developed. As soon as I do, I'll try to get them posted. Both hotels are charming. I fell in love with the gazebo at Jalisco. My fiance loved the art deco look at Vallarta. From everything I've read, both hotels are big on service.

Oh my gosh - that is so helpful to know! That is awesome! I was so overwhelmed with our kids, luggage and then the time share people, we had to actually go outside so I could collect my bearings before we got our taxi!

We went through Apple Vacations and we didn't know who to look for because we had already paid for our transportation to the hotel. That is awesome to know that RIU provides shuttle service.

It's even easier for our guests and they dont' have to worry about dealing with the taxi's. If you aren't a seasoned traveler, it can be very overwhelming!

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
