What am I going to do???

I hate going to showers! Thankfully I didn't/ haven't had one. (One might pop up unexpectedly though so I won't be too confident.)

Making things out of toilet paper and the silly little games is too much. Some seem to love it, but honestly, that is so not for me!

I feel for you Jen. I hope your family really listens to you. I can't believe they haven't caved yet.

Do what makes YOU happy. I mean really, aren't they planning this for that reason? To honor you and your new bride status?

A group cocktail party sounds like fun. Talk them into that. So much better than making a bouquet out of bows and toilet paper veils. haha

to appease my female relatives, my sister is going to throw a non-shower where they will join me for tea at the drake hotel in chicago (which is super fun and only about $30/pp) the week before i leave for mexico. so much easier, more fun and no pressure to open gifts in front of strangers.
ditto ... abbie nailed it! i had forgotten about the toilet paper dress ... those games ARE terrible! i'm in complete agreement ... i also made it clear to my friends and family that i didn't want a shower either! just not my thing! i think you've gotten good advice from all the girls - and you sound a lot better! i know that YOU know that it's just because your family and friends just want to celebrate with you --- so, a nice cocktail party would be nice (and your FI can be there, too)!

BTW Maura --- the Drake is one of my favorite hotels ever! my FI lived in Chicago, i've been missing it a bit lately! (and if you know anyone looking for a really nice condo to buy - we have one on the corner of superior and orleans!)

good luck Jen - let us know how it works out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
