For those of you that mailed your invitations in some sort of box how did you mail them? Did you wrap them in brown paper and then label them?

I am mailing mine in a white jewelry (larger then the earrings) type box. I'm not sure if I should mail them as is and risk them getting dirty. Or if I should wrap them in brown paper like a gift.

Here is my inspiration pic. I'm not sure how the blue part stays on.

Please post any pics if you have any!

Thanks!!

Believe me.. don't sweat it! Your guests are going to love getting a box of any sort..it's like a present they weren't expecting. Besides the post office trashes these things regardless of their color.. lol sorry, but they do. I took my down to the postoffice to have them cancelled and the lady stamped all over them right in front of me!! I could have cried after carefully putting my stamps on these things and paying an arm and a leg for postage!

People are going to care more about the inside than the box.. I can't wait to see a photo of yours.. make sure to post before you mail them out.

I agree with Angela. They will get trashed no matter what, it's the awe of getting a box in the first place and then opening it up that will impress them. Don't worry, just seal the white box and send it.

I mailed mine in a white kraft box. They didn't arrive too dirty or destroyed. I used clear tape to secure the opening.

I also received an invitation in the mail for a friend's wedding in a box...she used a white jewelry box like you described. It arrived clean and not destroyed...there is one tiny smudge on the back that is all. She also used clear tape around the edges and then wrote the address directly on the box.

Sorry.. I didn't mean to freak you out and make you feel like they'd be trashed.. it's just like any other piece of mail to the post office so it's going to get dirty (depending on how far it travels too).. It's going to be beautiful regardless and your guests are going to love the invites.. I LOVE getting boxes in the mail.. even if it's just a free sample of deodorant. :)

The band in the photo was either a piece of paper wrapped around and tapes or actually printed on sticker paper.. that would be really pretty to print your labels on, cut them out and then secure your boxes with.. I was nervous about my clear labels coming off and not holding.. the kraft paper wasn't as smooth as your boxes sound. Our address labels were just printed as white with a dotted brown border..

Thanks for your help girls! You are right about people just being happy to receive a box. I'm not so worried about them getting a little dirty now.

So the post office stamps all over them? LOL I guess I wasn't picturing that. How much was your postage per box? I was looking into purchasing the picture stamps, but not sure it will be worth my while if they weigh too much for the pre-determined amount that they allow.

We paid $1.81 each for postage.. my invitation designer talked me out of the custom stamps.. at the end of the day I had other things to spend the money on. Custom stamps are so cute, but for the purpose they serve, IMO not worth the extra money.. with that said I had like an Indian necklace and a stupid bird stamp.. lol I was upset about my "ugly" stamps at first, but now it's just funny.. No matter how cute, my guests still threw away the invite.. it means more to me than anyone else..

I think I paid about $1.31 per box.....I did them all through the self postage kiosk in the post office on a weekend....the post office didn't stamp those stamps out (at least the few I saw of friends')....the invite I got from a friend had a big black line through the 3 postage stamps she put on the box.

I do agree with Angela....some dirt or smudges are inevitable through the postage delivery system. but everyone will be thrilled to receive a box in the mail.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
