That was exactly what I was thinking! I think this is a fabulous idea, and oftentimes you can even set up a scholarship in their name, even if it's just a portion, not a full scholarship.

I love this idea, and I think they would really enjoy it. Perhaps you could donate to their alma mater? Just thinking out loud.

But Michelle, I love this story. What a totally generous thing to do, and look how their generosity has changed your life. Love these stories!

I have NO idea how to go about it... but I would guess you could contact a local high school and ask them? Or a college. But I think a local high school would probably be best.

I love the scholarship idea...thanks gals...

Hey does anyone know how to go about this??
If you're going to establish something in their name at a university, I would contact their Foundation/Giving office and they'll be able to direct you in the right place. Same with other institutions, just start somewhere and I bet they'll get you to the right place quickly, since you're wanting to give them some money! Let us know how it goes!

I donâ€t know if your interested but since your getting married in Mexico. My good friends grandparents do a lot of work for the school systems in Mexico. My friend has visited the areas. They are very indigent they donâ€t have the money or resources as we have in America so a 100.00 donation in their names would be special to the children and go along with the Mexican wedding. Just a thought to look into. Good Luck!

Wow! How wonderful! I love hearing about people who are so generous ...

I was going to suggest something similar. You said that they are both really into education - so this would seem really appropriate. I went through nursing school at a community college completely on scholarship money. Some were like $150 per semester - while this doesn't seem like much - they all added up to cover tuition, books, nursing supplies, etc. I was recently divorced with a 2 year old and an infant ---- those scholarships provided me a way to provide for my family.

At a community college, you could probably do something small and it might go further.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
