The more private location is Ocean Terrace (by the pool). Cascades is below the main pool and there are shows and music in the lobby area, which isn't too far from Cascades. However being right near the ocean, I'm sure you can't hear all of that going on. Oceana is on the other end of the property and it very quiet

I wanted the same thing for my reception. Candles, candles and more candles!! And with the tiki torches, white lights, chinese lanterns and the luminaries around the pool, my reception was well lit!

Funny you mentioning about your FI hating his picture taken, so does my husband!!! He ALWAYS blinks when there is a flash involved. Oh, but first he has to say "I'm gonna blink" just before the photo. WELL OF COURSE you are going to blink if you say it everytime just before the photo is snapped! SO ANNOYING! I'm curious to see how many photos Juan tricked him into NOT blinking in.
I forgot about tiki torches! I wonder if I should get those?

Ya my FI hates being center of attention and getting his picture taken! I was like umm we are getting married and we will be center of attention! So annoying! He just doesn't get it!! I hate when people say the are going to blink, it drives me crazy as well. That is the only thing they are concentrating on! Aren't there new cameras out that are suppose to prevent the blinking with certain flashes? I'm sure your photos came out great! I can't wait to see them!

I got the tiki torches from Dreams. They charged me $10 per torch and I think we had 10.

Marc hates to be the center of attention too (an so do I actually). But it was really different on our wedding day. Marc was really good about photos and listening to Juan. He didn't complain one bit. We were both just so happy, he probably would have done cartwheels if Juan asked (well maybe not..:)

Hello - we have officially decided on Dreams (much thanks to Tammy host)!! We're getting married on June 3rd 2007. I still can't believe we actually have a date! We're going to Cabo for our site visit over New Yrs but I haven't organized anything yet for that visit! I was going to use Blanca as a coordinator but it sometimes takes a while for her to respond. Should I have her coordinate all of our vendor meetings during our site visit, or should I do it? There is so much info on this forum, I kind of have an idea of who we should meet with.

Also, how did you girls contact Juan? I keep reading the rave reviews and want to see if he is available on 6/3.

I will take TONS of pics when we are down there and post a review afterwards. Does anyone need me to do anything for them in Cabo? I'll be there 12/28-1/5 (with a trip to Todo Santos & La Paz as well if we can fit it in).

Do most Dreams brides do everything at Dreams (welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner...)? We want to do our wedding on the beach and will def have our reception there but I wasn't sure if we should go off site one of the nights for a welcome thing or our rehearsal dinner... Also, did anyone plan any daily activities for your guests? We may have ~80 people!

One other thing - I LOVE the lantern idea (rebecca)... maybe some of us could share since most of us are getting married in May/June...?

just a heads up, his prices have gotten higher

We may have ~80 people! i did everything at dreams because there are enough locations on the resort so that it can feel like different types of events...like a did a more causal mexican/caribbean bbq buffet for my welcome dinner...it was really fun. you might as well take full advantage of AI...if you plan something off-site you will spend alot of $$ on food BUT also alot of $$ on transportation.

We don't have any arrangements for our site visit yet b/c we're also making it into a mini vacation (FI is off school). I don't think my FI realizes how much we're actually going to do when we're down there (wedding planning stuff)... :) He wants to go to Todos Santos / La Paz as well to surf, so we'll just somehow fit it all in. It would be GREAT if we could actually stay at Dreams for a few days to really get a feel for the resort and decide where we want to hold diff events!! How do I go about finding out if they have room for us any nights btwn 12/28-1/5?? Previously i have emailed with Yesica only, I've never been in contact with Mariana. Should I get in touch with her? Can you send me her info? thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
