Hello all you DREAms Bridescheesy.gif this is a great idea to have our own little thread, so helpful. I'm getting married on May 3rd, 2007, YAY!!!!! 5 months to go....

Kate - $6000 WOW that's insane, I contacted Baja Weddings also when I first started my planning so a couple months ago and they still email me to this day....first of all they were pretty pushy to get me to sign with them but I didnt want to cause of their high prices...right now I will just be using Dreams wedding coordinator but am still debating if I should get a day of or use Maye Cortinas cause she seems to have the best prices on flowers and music

Hey Edyta- I just emailed Mariana a huge list of questions about decor and food and stuff- I'll let you know what she says.

We kinda got lost on our planning we were working on together with the holidays and stuff. Anything new? I STILL haven't decided on religious or legal ceremony, I wish I could make up my mind! I'll have to start bugging Jeff about it more...

I know I havent really done any work for the wedding....I emailed Yesica cause supposidly she is looking over my wedding now ( I guess Mariana only does the big ones) and she sent me some prices but not really what I was asking for and said that I have a lot of time and not to worry....so I guess I will take her advice and wait till around maybe Feb...

but I'm kinda worried about music still don't know who I want to use and am scared that if I wait so long that all the good people will be taken

As for the ceremony part it's stressing me out, this whole Church thing is gonna drive me crazy withy all the paper work and stuff...Ahhhhhhh!!!!! Start bugging Jeff and ask him what he would like to do about the ceremony part...

also let me know what Mariana replies, i wonder if she will be using the cheaper florist now that Tammy (host) gave her

I'm just in my last semester at school will be done on Dec 9 if I pass my hardest class; corporate finance (keep ur fingers crossed for me) I'm scared cause I just can't seem too pass this class and it's holding me back from graduating...AHHHHHH!!!!!!!! so after that is done I will be on here lots more planning

Hang in there Edyta! Just get through your class- you have plenty of time to finish your wedding after Dec. 9th- think of how good it will feel to get that off your mind!

I feel the same way about music- not sure what I want to do either...hmm...something else to bug Jeff about some more!

hehe- that's ok, most of the time I feel like screaming! The problem with Jeff is that he says he doesn't care, but he really does. He waits until I decide on something, then questions my decision- drives me CRAZY!smile41.gif

Hey Jennetta,
I left the hanging of the lanterns to Mariana. That is what she is there for. I told her I have x number of tables and I want the lanterns to be hung in a square shape over the dance floor, So, knowing that, she worked out the layout of the reception. I used 30 lanterns. Maye had 10 and I brought 20 with me. I bought them at www.thepaperlanterstore.com . On the website, it will tell you that you need to purchase the wiring separately. Don't worry about this. Dreams provides the wiring and charged me $180 for use and hanging of the wiring.

Here is an arial pic from my balcony. Not the best lighting, but you'll get the picture.

I have been emailing wedding coordintors about prices. Emlee from Baja Weddings said $6000 for full coordination. That seems totally crazy to me. Would most of you agree that with Dreams and their coordinator the most I would ever need if I got an additional outside person would be a day of coordinator?
Lala,
That is ridiculous. I think Mariana's services are all you need. Though Maye got me some really good prices on vendors and she answered my e-mails promptly, So I was glad I hired her. I think her price went up a little, but I believe it is still under $1000.

Rebecca - I'd love to know about your lighting too. The FI actually noticed how great it looked in the pics and wants that lighting too. How many lanterns total did you have? Did you have to provide the lighting hookups for each so that the lanterns had a bulb? Do you know approximatly how many stramds of xmas lights were on the trees? I know they were left there for you but could you guesstimate?
Regarding the tree lights, I have no idea, but Mariana would know. Now would be a good time to ask her about my reception set up. It should be fresh in her mind.

Regarding the lanterns, see my response to Jennetta's post. I should have anwswered all of your questions.

I LOVED my lanterns. It provided more lighting and just looked so festive. For the price, I think it is SOO worth it

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
