I didn't make a trip down there specifically for the rentals, but I made one so that I could meet Tara. I did my initial site visit before hiring her, so we needed to meet once I brought her on board so we could get everything in order, which is when I was able to do cake tasting, decor decisions, etc. It was entirely worth it, but we did a lot over email too, so if you don't have the ability to make a trip just to meet with Amy about decor, she can email you picture after picture, and I have a lot, too!
Great to know! We did meet Amy at our site visit but I think we'll definitely go back to have taste testings, etc.
Thanks!

Wow Jill, I totally missed this. What a great, detail oriented review! And, dang, what an awesome wedding you had! You attention to detail regarding your guests is amazing. Clearly you spent a lot of money bringing your photog, videographer & planner in from out of town....sounds like it was totally worth it for you.

I loved your colors and your ideas (after reception lounge! dessert cart, after dancing snacks, you rock!). And I couldn't agree with you more on the tips section - especially regarding buying beer & water. Seriously, beer is water in Mexico. You only really drink water when you go to bed at night & when you wake up. And it's all so cheap, save yourself multiple drives to the Mega & just buy a crap load of beer.

congrats on a beautiful & well thought out wedding. Thanks for sharing all the details

Daniela, at FA, got me in touch with Alma at La Europea via email. She sent me the pricing list for tequilas, etc and I just ordered over an email, and paid when we picked it up. It's mostly stuff they have in the store all the time, but I didn't want to sit and count out 65 of each thing, so it saved some time!

I think the mini margs were $1.00USD and the mini tequila was $2.50USD or so each (they have about 20 mini tequilas so we went with the cheap ones...) :)

I'll try to see if I can find the pricing list, otherwise you can get it from Alma I'm sure. I'll post if I have it!

Just an update.

Erica found the rental company we used for the wedding (since I could not for the life of me remember their name!) So all rentals came through Tara Null with Fiestas Los Cabos, and she used Del Cabo Event Design.

Check it out! I'll see if I can find the initial quote for the rentals as well. Thank you, Erica!

UPDATE

I thought it only fair for me to update my review regarding Mi Casa and the deposit we had to put down, again. As I indicated, when we were paying for the Rehearsal Dinner, Mauricio had no record of us putting down a $1,000 USD deposit (which we did, back in April, in order to hold the space). Since I didn't even think of this, I didn't have the proof paperwork with me (I had a few other things to worry about!)

After 2.5 months, we finally received the $1,000USD back that Mi Casa owed us. Maurcio was difficult and useless, kept giving us the run around saying it had already been debited from their account in Mexico and that their California bank must have made a mistake...we got that for 2 months.

I finally decided to get Tara Null with Fiestas Los Cabos involved. She actually knows one of the owners. After getting the same run around from Mauricio, she went to the owner, who did his research, realized the problem, and decided to make it right out of his own personal account.

I just wanted to make sure to reflect the accuracy of Mi Casa's actions. I was thrilled with the owner, and yet again, it proves the point of how imperative it is to have someone in Los Cabos working locally...without Tara we would not have been paid.

So I give Mi Casa an A now that this is all cleared up!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
