The very first DIY project Mr. Lovebird and I undertook together was working on how to ask our groomsmen if they would honor us by being in our wedding party. I always liked the idea of personalized water bottles, like Mrs. Firefly and Mrs. Caterpillar did, so I bounced that idea off of him and said maybe we can do beer bottles instead. After scouring the net for some bottle label images via Google Images, we settled on good old Guinness.

So we started messing around with the image on Adobe but ended up using Microsoft Paint; though not as advanced, it was simpler to use and served our purpose. By using the magic wand function we filled in all the parts we wanted to change by picking the color we wanted to fill it in with. Click the image to open in full size.

Then we personalized it by changing the year to 1982, which just so happened to be everyoneâ€s birth year. My fiance and I met in high school and all of our groomsmen were our fellow high school classmates. And instead of the “Brewed by…†we put “Hand picked by Miss and Mr. Lovebirdâ€. We also changed the “Guinness†to “Groomsman†and added each of their individual names. Of course the groom wanted to play around with his own label and to indicate the best man, we changed the “Original†to “Premium.â€

We then put the image on a USB and headed to Staples to buy labels and have them printed in color. We found Avery #5264 to be the perfect fit. Then we went to the Waldbaumâ€s and picked up a six pack of Guinness Extra Stout.

Later on that night, he had the guys over his apartment and nonchalantly handed out the beer. It didnâ€t take long for them to catch on. The rest is for the history books.

Has anyone done something like this before? Iâ€m interested to know what creative ways others have used to ask people to be in their wedding party.

Those are so awesome! Great job!

We are having cupcakes instead of cake at the wedding, so we are going to get a cupcake for each person (the same kind as the wedding cupcakes) in the wedding party and give it to them in a little box with a card that I am making. Still working on ideas for the cards, but I am thinking cards that look like little Tux jackets for the guys and little dresses in my colors for the girls. I better get on this since we are all getting together after New Years and we want to ask them then! I'll post pics after I get it set up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
