Hi Holley!

Yay another Canadian LC bride!!! I'm not too far away from you - in Regina!!!

We were married at LC on Valentine's Day this year - it was absolutely, without a doubt, the BEST decision we ever could have made! We had 33 of our family and friends join us, and it was so amazing!!! I just posted my wedding video in the "LC Brides Post Here" thread - which gives you an idea of what the day is like..it is long, so be forewarned, but there is everything on there, the boat ride, the ceremony, dinner, dancing, fire dancers, everything!

Good luck and Happy planning, let us know if you have any questions!!!

Lindsay

Hey Lindsay!

How's the weather?? I am pretty much sick of snow and hoping for some warmer weather soon! *sigh* if only the wedding was sooner!

I am looking forward to seeing your video and thank you for sharing it! I love all these ideas that your ladies have and it really puts me at ease! I guess you didn't get the giant package deal if you only had 33 ppl go? I am hoping that this all goes as smooth as possible! I will bombard you with questions so be prepared!!

Hi Holley,

I'm another LC bride but I too have never been there. March is coming soon though! It goes by so fast. I really suggest you check out the Las Caletas thread (if you already haven't). It's a ton of reading- I think we are at 93 pages but honestly, we have talked to just about everything.

I booked the "deluxe" package. I know packages have changed since then so I'm assuming it's the largest. I only have 18 guests going so far. When I first booked, I booked the "intimate package" (there was only 2 packages and this one was considered the day time one.) I found out that this package shares meals with the daytime guests at LC. I wanted my own private dinner so I upgraded to deluxe. It could have changed since then. You could always ask Nicole or Kelley.

We are staying at the Barcelo de la Jolla Misamoya. (I still can't pronounce the name. haha) It's more southern of Dreams so it might be considered inconvenient for some. They are remodeling it right now so it should be totally upgraded for future trips.

Happy planning.

What package did you get in LC? Did you end up going for the whole day or just the half day trip?
Sorry for all of the questions!!
By the way, I LOVE the Christmas card!
We got what was called the "delux" package then, same one Ann got. I went over in the morning with my bridesmaids and the guests followed on the later boat. If you can, I would suggest going early. It makes for a more relaxing day. You can get massages and hang out, plus you don't have to get off the boat and rush to get ready.

Also, a site visit is included with packages. You can fly down and use it anytime before the wedding or take a day once you get there for the wedding. We had been to LC before and knew what it looked like, but we did the site visit anyway and included my parents as well. It was nice to have that day (a few days before the wedding) to relax with just the 4 of us before the other guests arrived. Also we got to go over last minute details with Nicole (our WC). You don't have to do the site visit though, and either way the wedding will rock.

As you can see I don't mind talking about LC so ask away, we are all pretty long-winded when it comes to that place...LOL

Oh, and thanks for the siggy comment....those are my Christmas wishes Las Caletas style :P

Hi Holley,

I'm in Edmonton too; and I'm getting married at LC next year (May 6!!!). Cool!

Its looking like we'll have around 50 guests and we're all staying at the Melia in the marina. The beach there is gross, so it isn't the choice for you. As mentioned, South and North (Nuevo), the beaches are much nicer, so you should stick with those. We are staying in the marina to be close to family, but I have to say its a little too bad... I would have chosen to stay south for sure (Dreams looks amazing!).

We did the delux package too; booked a long time ago, so not sure how that translates to the new stuff... the price sounds about the same as the one you were asking about. My bridesmaid, my mom and I are going over in the morning to kick back and the rest of the guests are coming over on the boat. I wasn't going to do that, but after reading all of the advice on this AMAZING forum, I am 100% in (THANKS GIRLS!).

J and I are doing our site visit on Jan 2, and that will be our second time there together (my fourth time. I love it there.) I have to say I am not the least bit concerned about anything anything anything. We have been in touch with Nicole and between her and the ladies on this site, I have no concerns what-so-ever.

I always joke that I have two wedding planners: BDW and Nicole.

Happy planning!

Nancy

Hey we're getting married at LC in November 2008!! I seriously cannot wait. I wish our wedding date would get her faster!

My favorite thing about LC, has to be Kelley the WC. I know she's always looking out for the best interest of the bride/groom. And based on all the other BDW brides I know I can just give her an idea of what I want, and she will go with this. This was also really important to me because I don't want a big production of a wedding rolleyes.gif

we're staying at dreams. and anyone that doesn't want to do AI we're suggesting the Marriott CasaMagna. If you're looking at NV, i'd suggest the Palace resort there.

Wow you ladies are awesome! You have given me so much information and I feel totally confident about booking here. Poor Nicole, she got in touch with me today and gave me a boat load of information and asked if I have any questions...don't think I have any after reading all of these forums!! I love the support that you all give and I appreciate everything that I can read on here!

I am still not sure about where to stay for the first week. We want something nice, but not too crazy and close to PV. We want to have a welcome dinner right in town and I don't want everyone to have to take a long cab ride to be there. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to have the welcome dinner in town? I wish I knew the city as it would make things a lot easier.

For those of you who are getting married soon, I can't wait to see all of your pictures and read your reviews and please keep posting here! I am so addicted to this site! lol

Hi Holly~

I am getting married at Las Caletas on May 27, 2008. We are staying at the Melia Puerto Vallarta. We have booked the same package as everyone else, but will have between 20 and 25 people.

I can relate in that we both have in laws that should not be together. My FMIL can't get over FFIL and new wife even though it has been years since the divorce. FMIL likes to provoke new wife and then they both get into trouble to put it nicely. Anyway, I have found only one problem with the whole stay and wedding--The hour boat ride from PV to LC. It is not a small boat but there is still no where to go! I am taking FMIL over with me and my girls early so that is one less time the in-laws have to be near each other. The rest of the time I am hoping that they behave, especially once the alcohol starts flowing! My parents joke that if anyone misbehaves they will be put in the cages. The cages are actually for the birds but still funny!

The only other problem I have run into is that if you stay at an all inclusive resort, you can have guests but the guests can't buy alcohol or food. So if you are wanting to drink and eat with other people not staying at the resort you will have to go out. I think this defeats the purpose of all inclusive especially if you do it often.

Anyway, welcome. The ladies on here are great and full of information. You have made a great choice on LC!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
