I totally agree with you guys! I've experienced this a lot lately. I did a coworker a big favor this morning and did some of her work because she wasn't in yet, and there was a big development announced yesterday afternoon at a company she's supposed to follow but she missed the announcement somehow. (I'm a journalist) So I made some notes about it and put it into the database we use to track companies, and didn't put my name on it or my initials or anything. Then the editor of the magazine where I work was writing a column about marketing executive changes and asked if anyone knew of any recent changes. So I mentioned the one I just had entered for my coworker. Later when she arrived, I let her know that I put notes in for her. And she frickin flipped out at me and yelled "I'll do my own companies!" Jesus. Not so much as even a thank you for doing my work even though you didnt have to. I was just trying to be nice!

A quick wedding related one: I made an appointment yesterday to try on gowns at Ultimate Bride on Oak Street in Chicago on Dec. 8th. The woman was so rude on the phone. She didn't ask me any of the standard questions I've gotten from every other boutique: what's your normal dress size, how tall are you, do you have any preferences on designers or necklines, no speech about their camera policy... so when she confirmed my appointment and was about to hang up and I said wait, I have a few questions, she was totally witchy about answering questions I had about whether or not I could bring a camera and whatever else!

What is wrong with people? Service with a smile makes a HUGE difference!

I agree.... what ever happened to people being nice. I dont get it, especially around the holiday season, arent people supposed to be caring and giving etc. Its crazy, I work in a doctors office and it amazes me how rude and incosiderate people are to me and other co-workers for no reason. Its even worse at work because you cant really say anything back... its crazy. At least everyone on here is nice!!!

ugh - this reminds me of one of my pet peeves. i often hold the door for people when coming and going, even if they're a few steps behind me. about half the time, people will just walk through w/o saying anything. i always say, loud enough so they can hear ... "YOU'RE WELCOME!" it embarasses Paul, but hey - gets my point across. usually they just look at me, and i give them a smirk. i'm especially annoyed when it's someone who has school-agfe children with them - i mean, what are they teaching their kids about manners!?

UGH I had a bad experience at SAKS too.... not recently but I try not to go in there. First of all I had some snotty spoiled teenagers push me out of the way while I was kneeling down looking for my size of jeans. And then later when i was looking at this gorgeous Prada purse which I've always wanted and was seriously thinking about buying some rich leather faced cougars jumped out of no where and took the purse out of my hands and said they already were looking at this and were buying it/ haven't been there since.

But yeah people are rude lately... tis the season :P

I seriously do the exact same thing. How difficult is it to say "thank you"?!!! It embarasses Aaron too, but I don't care!

I also hate it when the person in front of you goes out the door, but doesn't hold it open they just try to quickly sneak through without touching the door... so the door closes in your face. Lovely.

Me too! LOL.

Just yesterday I was at the dollar store and an older lady was at the cash (i'll say 60's at least) and the whole time she was ringing my stuff in she was TALKING ON THE PHONE!! WTH!! She like cocks the phone away from her mouth to tell me how much I owe and I just looked at her. She said is there a problem? Like nothing.

I really hate it when someone in customer service complains to you. I always get it when I'm at a restaurant. The waiter will ask us how we are and we always say, "good, and you?"... and they're response is, "oh well, I have to work a Saturday and my shift just started and my day is going really slow..." etc. You know your customer service rocks when you complain about your day. Or when two employees complain about other customers or other coworkers RIGHT in front of customers... no thanks.

Ugh I HATE that! John & I go to this local diner quite a bit (they have the BEST breakfasts). Well one of the waitresses feels comfortable with us I guess and bitches to us ALL THE TIME. It drives me nuts! She swears & everything....like a few weeks ago there was a homeless guy who had come in and wanted a cup of coffee but wouldn't pay for it...after they got him to leave she came over to us and was like "we give him one handout and now he expects it all the fuckin' time, i have no patience for bums like him, blah blah blah blah blah" .... thanks a lot lady, you just ruined my breakfast.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
