Did you end up with the dress you wanted?

Recommended Posts

So many people have said to try on as many different styles as you can, because even tho you have a certain style/type in mind, it may not be what looks good on you or what you thought it would be. Who ended up with their Dream dress, and who ended up with their Reality dress?

I loved my dress, but I did not shop around enough. After I bought it I saw a million dresses that I wish I had tried on. I was also around 15 lbs heavier when I got my dress, if I had been that size when I went shopping, I think I would have got something more fitted. I did love my dress though, I do not regret picking it, but I really think you should try on lots and lots and lots before you pick the one.

well I wound up not liking the first two I picked (my mom convinced me to get the first one and I didn't like it-and the second one turned out to be uncomfortable to me)

The one I wound up with was great, I don't know that it was my dream dress but it had a vintage look to it that I really had wanted anyway, and as it turned out, my dress was really similar to my mothers dress, which is kinda cool. My husband also really love it.

I didn't start with an idea of a dream dress. I mean, I saw dresses I liked in magazines but I had no idea of if I would like it on me. So when I started shopping I would try on whatever the girl gave me. It only took me about 30 minutes at the first place to eliminate the cuts that looked bad on me (I look like ass in strapless!)

As for my dress I had seen it in a mag and liked it - but wasn't set on it just because of that. It wasn't until I tried it on that I was sold. Long story short - I guess I ended up with my reality dream dress.

I always thought I wanted the big ballgown for my wedding. I wanted to wear something that you would NEVER wear anywhere else. I look best in halter style dresses because I hate that flab right under your armpits and the halter can hide this. My friends always say that everyone has it but with strapless, it seems to rear its ugly head more so than with other style dresses. But I really wanted a strapless for my wedding. Go figure. So after trying on about 50 different dresses of all different styles, I finally found my dress. I knew it was the perfect dress for me as soon as I put it on. So I ended up with the dress I didn't really know that I wanted! I LOVE IT!!

I had ideas of what I liked, brought print outs to the salon. But ended up getting something I just happend across. It was similar to the ones I had printed out in general style (a-line) and fabric. Oddly enough it happend to be the first one I tried on at the first store I went to! But I knew I loved it and I felt like ME in it. I tried on all the others but didn't care to even look more after that. I ordered the dress that same day. No regrets....LOVE my dress.

I'd say just to be open-minded. Try on things you like, but be open to other ideas. Most people I know did not end up with whatever dress they had picked out in their minds ahead of time.

I knew exactly what I wanted (beaded, lace and fitted) and I foudn my dress in the first store. I waited about 7 months to buy it cuz it was over my price-range, but I tried on many, many dresses and came back to the one that I found that first store. So my only advice would be to try on many styles, but nothing out of your price-range in case you fall in love with it. Then you can figure out if what you always thought is what you really want!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
