Have it at the RIU...there, that was easy...lol Seriously, all I can say is I honeymooned at the RIU and it would be a spectacular place for a wedding. Clean and private beach, pretty facilities, great people. I know nothing about Breezes but if you haven't found these yet, here are some reviews:

One word of caution...the Riu books up FAST for its weddings. I think most of the spring & summer of 2008 are already completely filled. Not sure when you wanted your wedding...but that's something to consider if it's in 08! You can check availability on Wedding Packages by Destination. Honeymoon Holidays. Weddings by Riu. Just enter the resort, pick a type of wedding (free, classic, royal, etc) and 'check availability' for the date you're interested in.

That said, I vote Riu (though I might be a bit biased wink.gif)! I know nothing about Breezes. But there are 30+ Riu Ocho Rios brides on here...there has to be a reason for that!

Keep us updated! And let us know if you have any more questions.

Have you read through our Riu Ocho Rios planning threads in the Jamaica section of the forum? That'd give you a GREAT idea what you'd be dealing with there.

....one more thing; the final deciding factor for me was affordability for my guests. The ROR was more affordable than other resorts I was looking at.

I say go with Riu! I was looking into the Breezes resorts also but was having trouble finding information on how weddings went. If you honestly cant find any information at all about Breezes, you dont want to be let down when you get there.

Besides, there are so many people here having the wedding at Riu that you will be more than aware of what possible pitfalls could happen (but reading the posts, it looks like with Riu disappointment is few and far between!)

My brother got married at Breezes Runaway Bay about 5 years ago so I'm sure a lot could change but it was beautiful and they loved it. IMO, the Riu is a much nicer resort than BRB. BRB is a lot smaller and more quiant but older. They had their wedding in the garden gazebo but had the option of the beach. I do know that Breezes was very good about accomodating to anything they wanted. The recieved lots of perks in their wedding package..cake, flowers, carriage ride, video...

Not sure about Riu, but BRB is in the middle of nowhere...any town is a good 40 minute drive away.

In my opinion, you should go with the Riu. I am getting married at Beaches Boscobel and it is VERY frustrating. The girls on this forum get so much info from their WC. There are a few other girls on here either looking at or getting married at Beaches, but I still find that the Riu girls are way ahead of me in the planning. They have each other as well as an attentive WC. I wish I had the support on this forum that they had, so I say you could stick with the majority.

What are your reasons for considering both? Perhaps knowing your reasons for these being your top 2 choices might help us better help you decide...

I agree with most of the girls here (although I may be bias too, cause Iâ€m getting married at the Riu May 08 smile159.gif) there has to be a reason there are SOOOO many Riu Bridescheer2.gif. And there are brides here that were just married at the Riu who are so so helpful.grouphug.gif Its totally like having older sisters that have been there done that and are now passing you ALL of their notes. All you have to do is study what they already learned. (Thanks girls!!)smile03.gif.

Are you considering both because you want an all-inclusive family resorthuh.gif If so, looking into activities that are available for the younger crowd may be a deciding factor. It sounds like Riu may have more options as far as wedding location (beach, beach gazebo, garden gazebo) but Breezes, being smaller, may include more in there package….

Thanks ladies! I am looking into both because they are both in my price range. We want an all inclusive resort but dont want our guests to spend a fortune. I am going to see if the date is even available...that will play a HUGE role at this point. I am looking at 8/8/08 or 8/9/08. Wish me luck I will be back on to let you know what happened.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
