Flowers/Centerpieces in Jamaica - Any Megastores?

Anyone know if these exist in Montego Bay or Negril or even Ochos Rios? My wedding coordinator has officially pissed me off and has become unhelpful, so it looks like I need to come up with glass bowls/vases to make into centerpieces. I really don't think flying them down is a good idea, so I'm hoping that there is a superstore somewhere...

I'm not sure about Negril, but to my knowledge, there are no megastores in Mo Bay or Ocho Rios. (At least I didnt see any) Lol, when we were riding towards Ocho Rios, the tour guide said, 'Coming up to your left you will see Walmart'. We were all anxiously waiting to see it! It was a local's hut, with Walmart written on the sign outside! lol

I think building a megastore in Jamaica would put a lot of the locals out of business. As Jamaica is a very poor country, and most of their revenue is generated from tourism, but I dont think a lot of the locals would be able to afford to shop there very often! I think it would hurt their economy more than help. just my opinion

We actually found a floral wholesaler in MoBay (TPG Distributors), so we are hoping they will have what we need to make centerpieces. My wedding coordinator is being completely unhelpful recently, so we did a fairly extensive internet search. I'm hoping the wholesaler will have glass bowls and also be able to sell us flowers. My mother's boyfriend is a florist, and it means a lot to him to make my bouquet, etc. The ridiculous part is that my WC quoted us prices to just buy the flowers from the local florist, and the prices were higher than if they MADE my bouquet! Our plan is to drive back to MoBay when my mom arrives and hit the shop before picking them up at the airport... (a day before the rest of the guests arrive).

Grats hopels, would you happen to have contact information for TPG other than the phone number on their website (maybe an email)? Did they send you any catalogs or price lists?

I have family members who want to do the flowers for me and this would help a great deal.

Great find by the way!

even if there was one in Negril, that is a long drive, I don't even know if it would be worth it to try to go to Negril. In fact one of the entertainment people from our resort drove back to the airport with us and she was flying to Negril.

We're actually getting married just outside of Negril, so for us it would be alot closer than driving back to MoBay to buy flowers and stuff. I just don't think anything exists in Negril like this...

  • 1 month later...

Just wanted to update you guys on TPG. So far, they have been really helpful. They have a small selection of flowers that they have standard, but for a larger wedding can order anything you want. Their prices for roses are REALLY reasonable. We were quoted $5/rose by our WC's florist (using for petals and probably my bouquet)... this place is 2 dozen for $28! Pretty good if you ask me :) They also can supply vases/lilly bowls, have glass marbles for centerpieces and can get anything they don't have. They have 2 locations - MoBay and Kingston.

Overall, they've been a huge help. I'll let you all know what I thought in about a month!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
