The $26,360.00 Wedding Coordinator...WTH?!!

Recommended Posts

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! My whole DW for 20 people, plus a reception for 175 people back in the States was $9,000! We didn't skimp at all (alcohol, food, etc)...granted, the reception was in Kansas and I'm sure things there are quite a bit more affordable there than on the coasts : )!

LAS CALETAS through Vallarta Adventures was definately the way to go! It's such a unique experience if you don't want to get married in the backyard (or back beach) of a big hotel. Plus, food, open bar, minister, wedding planner, and roundtrip boatride for you and your guests is included in the price! You can check out our wedding pics at the blog here to give you a little insight as to what you'd be in store for (for the money, that is):

i know who sent the quote too! i received one that was about the same...i dont think i've ever laughed so hard! that's when i decided not to go w/ an outside wedding coordinator...i can't say much about the wc at dreams, yet, but anything is better than a $26000 quote for almost nothing!

Ok, who is this WC?!?! Ours is only charging us $2,000. Granted, that's not the ceremony and reception costs - just their coordination services. The Mayan seems reasonable from what I've seen. Things definitely do add up tho. We were thinking we could do it for $5-10k but now I'm thinking more like $12-15k, maybe more (EEK!!!!!!). That would include flying in a photographer tho which is an extra $4-6k alone.

I think I know who sent the quote too LOL it seems most of the PV Brides have experienced that moment !!! LOL

I am using the same as Amy and Jaime and some other girls at the forum and my budget is around $27-30K with 120-150 guests including everything... so I think yours is high considering there is no alcohol and music and the villa rental!!!!!

Well, seems I'm not alone in receiving this quote. Looks like a few of you have received the same and others that haven't know which company I am referring to. Such a shame. Great business, but charging American prices in a cheaper city like PV is just plain wrong. $158 per head...no alcohol, no dessert...I mean, really?? For that price I might as well host my wedding in LA or NY. smile43.gif

Those who suggested Las Calentas, thank you. We will definitely make a point to do so when we are there next month. We are also checking out Dreams and the Mayan. Any other ideas or suggestions? I'd like to have a wedding coordinator to manage everything from the start to finish so if you have suggestions on others, please let me know.

Thank you,

Mariama

Mariama,

I've tried to PM you and this is the message I get:

"mariama has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

We are meeting with Prisar (Hector & Priscilla) on Dec. 17th. I will let you know how that goes. Edna has already met with them I believe and seemed to really like them.

Holy smokes. 26K is a LOT especially since you're still missing so many items!

May sound like a broken record here, but check out Las Caletas. The wedding coordinators there are awesome!! And it's a much more affordable place to get married!

Good luck!

That's crazy!!!

We are going to an AI resort, in which the wedding reception is included, are bringing our own photog, flowers etc. Our resort coordinator seems to be just fine in arranging everything that we need, and it's included.

Crazy that you gals are paying so much for something that's supposed to be cheaper than having a wedding at home, like you said yourself!

Sorry about that. I will look into it and try and fix it. Thanks for letting me know. I had no idea.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
