Anyone have a GPS for their cars?

I need help. My DH and I decided to get a GPS for our car. I am always getting lost in our area and we are driving to NYC this winter for Christmas.

 

So anyway, just wanted to know if anyone else has one and how they like it.

 

I like the text-to-speech idea, where it tells you what the street name is instead of just turn left here.

 

I also like the traffic updates thing but its not entirely necessary but would be really nice.

 

A bigger screen would be nice.

 

Suggestions would be fabulous!

fi and i both got our cars w/ it...i can't live w/o it now! he also has a garmin c220 and we believe (but could be wrong) that it does say the street name. it also has traffic updates. the screen is about 4x3. he keeps it in his little weekend car...we'd use it more often if we didn't have it in the cars already.

We have an older Garmin without the street address feature nor traffic updates and we love it. The graphics are easy to read and it's pretty user friendly. The newer ones do have traffic updates and speech. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Garmin (especially since Hubby likes to steal mine.)

Oh man, gotta love the GPS! My hubby has a Garmin - don't know the model #, but it's also a PDA. I steal it from him all the time. I am asking for a GPS for Christmas.

 

The Garmin we have now just does the "left turn in 300 feet" thing, which is usually fine, but I think the street name callout would be awesome. Our real estate agent had one that was a pretty big screen, maybe 4x4", and it would display the giant arrows & street names so you could use it with the sound off.

 

OVerall, I vote YES on the GPS, especially if you are getting lost. It really is a great security blanket.

we have it and the screen is pretty big...like 9 inches across...steve loves it and i think it saved our marriage...

 

he is one of those guys that wants to have a co-pilot when i just want ti space out the window or talk not be looking at maps...like he literally wanted me to be like "in a 1/4 mile you will need to turn left"..when i am more like "turn left at x-street" and the gps is great because it does waht he wants

I think im getting one for my B-day...and thats nest week so I cant wait. I ALWAYS get lost!!!! I also asked for a Garmin and I think its the same one thats sold at costco for 299$! I think it's sooo worth it!!!

I'm planning on getting the Navigon GPS system. The cheapest price I found was on Amazon.com, but it still around $500. It shows the street signs and gives traffic updates w/o having to pay a yearly subscription. I believe teh Garmin Nuvi one charges $60 yearly to have the traffic updates so although it is cheaper eventually with having to pay the subscription it would have been the same price as the Navigon.

I am looking into getting on. My parents have one tha came with their BMW and it provides maps and voice commands. I love it.

 

I've used map quest in the past but I find it much easier to hear the voice telling me where to turn or how much further to go verses trying to drive and read a map at the same time.
