Planning is going great, I have worked with Richard who set everything up at first got us the contract and all and now my wedding planner is Karla who I really love! She is so great and attentive. My experience thus far has been a very positive one and I am actually going down there at the end of this month to do a site inspection so I will have pictures and more stories to tell you then!!!

Hello-

It is great to be a part of this forum. I recently got engaged and researching locations. I decided to look at Mexico and all I have to say is I am in LOVE with Grand Velas Resorts. I am currently trying to work the the Wedding Sales Executive to work out some sort of a package for my fiancee and I. I am so excited and hoping to seal the deal with them. If your wedding was at that location, please share some information with me. I am open for advices.

Thanks in advance!

Nia

Hi!

I am planning a wedding for May 2012  in RM.  I have three resorts in mind one being the Grand Velas.  I see some of yall have already started your planning here at this resort.  Is the WC easy to work with and will they allow you to change some of the package offerings?  Thier prices are pretty high for not alot of offerings.  Also are their any regulations about outside vendors?

Thank you!

Mandi

Hello African Venus! Congrats!!! We are still trying to work out a deal with Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. Their prices are extremely ridiculous/ well not looking to work for our budget. They will charge us almost double the price if all our guests are not staying at the resort. It is a bit much because the they are charging per person. I fell in love with their white gazebo and I have not been able to find anything like it. I am wondering about your location. Can you please share some information with me? I would gladly appreciate it. :)

Hello J&E21! Congratulations!  I would have have it by the pool if you don't want to have sands in you shoes. Both locations will be nice. Hope that helps :)

Hello Mandy! Congrats!!! I am not sure which resorts you are referring to. As for the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit- the sales person I've been in touch with told me they work with some outside vendors. I am not sure which vendors you are interested in, therefore I would speak to them directly to avoid confusions.

Dellnia: Welcome and congratulations! I'm available to any B2Bs looking for advice on GVV Nuevo Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit. You know how to reach me. I've got tons of info.

I don't have any info on the other Velas resorts, so I couldn't say. If you do a quick search on Casa Velas, Velas Vallarta, or GVV Riviera Maya, you're bound to come across someone else who married at those resorts. Casa Velas has gotten great reviews. I would encourage all the brides to check photographer websites and blogs to see the location they're interested in at an actual wedding (not a promotional shot). That helps alot!

Hey Mandi!

Not the Riviera Maya but Nayarit. I'm still negotiating with them. I have not signed the contract yet. I am planning on having about 50 guests so I am hoping that they will work with me. The package they are offering me does not include photography. But my bouquet and the groom boutonniere, DJ center pieces are all included. I am learning that if I bring my own DJ I can rent their equipment & it would cost less. Basically, you have to keep negotiating with them... You can exchange things you don't need for something else.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
