Overwhelmed With Venues!

Hi everyone!

My name is Monica. I just got engaged a few days ago, and we agreed on having a destination wedding. We like the islands, but started looking at hotels and got super overwhlemed. How did you decide which place to stick with?! I've been reading some reviews online but its so hard to decide by looking at a few pictures and reviews.

Also, I've been seeing some wedding packages online, but I know there will be many additional costs and things to buy, so how do you set a realistic budget?! Is food included at most of these places? Or is it an additional cost on top of package prices? I know every hotel is different but we are just trying to get an idea.

I'm sure everyone feels overwhelmed when they first start the process of wedding planning, so how did you start?

Hi There Mfinberg716,

TA Wendy here! Congratulations on your engagement! You are at the beginning of such an exciting time! You will find a wealth of information here on the BDW forum, and we at Wright Travel are here to help you through the entire process!

You are correct that there are many options and locations and destinations to select from, but once you have narrowed it down a bit, your choices will become clear, and when the resort has been picked and rooms blocked, and wedding date on the books it becomes a very easy process!

A few questions to ask of yourself that will help to zero in on your perfect destination wedding:

  1. What is the ideal date and time of your wedding
  1. What dates would you like to stay?
  1. How many people will be attending?
  1. Where will most of your guests be traveling from?
  1. Will this be a legal or symbolic wedding? (We can explain the differences for you!)
  1. Would you prefer a gazebo or a beach wedding?
  1. Will there be children at the wedding?
  1. Do you have any resorts in mind (all inclusive, family friendly, etc)? If not, describe the type of resort you are interested in as well as a target price range (per person, per night)

Please let us know if we can be of help! If you click the contact me button at the top of the page one of our Wright Travel Agents will be in touch and will answer all of your questions about the process! Again, our biggest Congratulations!

TA Wendy

Congrats! Getting a travel agent really helped us get started. Decide what is most important to you and start to compare resorts by those things. Also, the cost of the ceremony packages can differ by thousands of dollars, so important to look at right away.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
