Wedding At Riu Ocho Rios Jamaica Or Grand Bahia Principe?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!!

I'm new to this forum, my fiance and I have our entire wedding planned for 2018 and just decided recently to call of the whole thing and do a destination wedding which is quote exciting to say the least.

We have never traveled ourselves and we couldn't even afford a honeymoon the original plan, so this way we get to have our wedding AND honeymoon! SOLD  :D

We have narrowed it down to Jamaica, and there are 2 resorts that we are looking into: The Riu Ochos Riu and the Grand Bahia Principe. It is quite difficult to find wedding package online besides the basic post on their website. We are waiting to hear more from our agent but I fear this could take some time and we want to start planning and finalize and cancel our other plans so we have been trying to do our own research.

I need help!! Anyone have any advice as to which resort is better for couples, families, weddings, food, in general etc.

They both look stunning and I have compared the packages but don't have prices for all the extras.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

Thanks!!

Congrats. Happy you and your fiancé get to have your honeymoon now. I would suggest just contacting the resorts directly and speak with someone from their wedding department. They can sometimes email you all the additional information that you need

Thank you! Our TA has been amazing getting all the requested information from both resorts and dealing with the wedding coordinators directly to get back to us so quickly so we can go ahead and book asap. :)

They are around the same price, RIU will be around 5$ more expensive for adults.

Both packages are pretty comparable and we're finding it difficult deciding.

Riu

-slightly more expensive

-kids travel cheaper

-spa credit all guests 10%

-max 10 people for wedding ceremony and semi private receptiom (free wedding)

-legal fees are the same

-gazebo on the beach, 3pm ceremony time.

OR

Bahia

-all same except no spa credit

-slightly cheaper adult price but more expensive child ticket

-4pm wedding gazebo by beach

-no spa credit

-free wedding up to 30 people max

Sooooo please give any helpful tips or advice to help us decide!

Both look great.

We're trying to keep costs down.

Both have available wedding dates ( 1 wk apart).

We don't know how many people will go as we haven't asked everyone yet as we don't know details.

The scary thing is the resort wants deposit FIRST, then book flights and pay flights deposit...THEN they will ask the judge if they are available to dobour legal civil ceremony.

IF the judge can't I am forced to do symbolic as all deposits nonrefundable unless Iose both.

So we can book everything to find out we can't have civil.

Tough decisions!

Please share:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
