Riu Playacar Or Barcelo Maya Help!

SMiles

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I am starting my DW research. Planning on November 2017.

I have narrowed it down to RIU Playacar and Barcelo Maya. I am leaning more towards RIU Playacar due to price. I also have a lot of family traveling from England. How do I ensure everyone gets the best price when my travel agency doesn't help with flights from England? Has anyone else had this issue?

I really want the Barcelo Maya, I have heard only great reviews, however the price is a bit high for my guests, and I do want people to actually come!

Has anyone had a good experience at RIU Playacar? It has been renovated since 2015 and the grounds/rooms look great.
I'm looking for simple. I don't have a lot of specific ideas myself. I am good to use everything that comes with a package with a few add-ons. But I don't want to be ripped off by going only with what the resort has to offer.

Any help or experience would be great!

-SMiles.

Hola @@SMiles !!! Welcome to the amazing bestdestiationwedding.com community and a huge congratulations on your upcoming wedding. November will be here before you know it.

We've had the experience of working at both Barcelo and a couple of the Riu resorts a handful of times and our experiences have always been wonderful. We're actually photographing a wedding at Riu Yucatan today.

How many guests are you thinking will be joining you? The biggest difference we can think of between the two resorts is size (Barcelo is HUGE compared to the Riu resorts) and proximity to Playa del Carmen. Barcelo is about halfway between PDC and Tulum where as Riu is right in Playacar and you'd be very close to town, shops, restaurants, nightlife, etc.

I'm certain someone will have an answer for you regarding booking. In the meantime we'll leave you with a little inspiration.

Hi @@SMiles!

You have two pretty good options. RIU Playacar is awesome, just renovated, it gives you this luxury hotel, it´s so fun, excellent service, the food is delicious, the huge beach with this light blue water in the front, white sand surrounded by palm trees... just perfect for your BIG DAY.

Barcelo Maya, crystal clear water, awesome views. The Resort has a breath taking chappel surrounded by water fountains, perfect for your wedding ceremony.

If have any question, just let me know, we are here to help you on this journey.

Let me show you some of my photography job, if you want, you can take a look at my website or my Fan page on Facebook, you are going to find some really good inspiration for your coming event.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
