Hi Kard613,

USD holds a greater value in Mexico then their own peso. Having said that, it can sometimes be hard for them to use or exchange. It is always best we find to ask the front desk upon arrival what the staff would prefer, or better yet ask your WC before you depart!!

Happy Planning!

I want to bump this up for us current brides...its quite useful. .I know I was wondering who gets tips and how much without looking cheap.. I am a tipper but I'm also starting to feel nickel and dimed to death...all the costs and it's supposed to be AI...so this has given me a good idea what to give...

My family and I were just discussing this last night at dinner. Tipping is something I do typically, but I hadnt even really thought about tipping at the wedding until I found these threads. So many little things that I didnt even think of are being added to my list.

A lady I know who married at my resort said she tipped the WC $50. She said she ended up with some wedding extras she hadn't asked for or paid for so wasn't even sure the WC took the money for herself. But I plan to tip cause I want it all to go off without a hitch! And show we appreciate their hard work.

Thoughts on photography? I know sometimes they build that in the price.

@@calgarybride2015 - I don't think I'd tip the photographer if it is his company and he's getting paid directly through the fee. If it was an associate or something, I probably would tip (and assistants). Same goes for things like hair, makeup, video, etc.

Our tips will be based on performance.  We tip generously, but we do expect good service. I've read some horror stories about WCs - I would definitely not tip a bad WC

I don't know if this still applies or not, but when we got married the WCs weren't allowed to accept monetary gifts, so I purchased a couple of things here before we left to give to them. We did tip our videographer and photographer but I don't remember how much. This was Jamaica so I don't know what the policy is for Mexico, and it may vary by resort too.

And I agree about the "by service". I refuse to tip when service is bad and I think that should apply to a resort too. Especially an AI. Why condone bad behaviour?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
