Hi All,

I am from UK and got engaged on my 40th Birthday at Sandos Playacar so I know that this place is beautiful. I have been looking at posts for Sandos but it looks like the most recent posts regarding  wedding experiences was back in 2013. Has anybody recently got married here or about too?

Thank you in advance

Hi there!

I haven't been there yet, but we did just book a date for October 26, 2017 :) their prices are pretty reasonable and the wedding co-ordinator has been great so far! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply & congratulations on booking your date, how exciting :)!!

You will have an amazing time the place is beautiful hotel and especially the beach. I went there in May for my birthday & that's where he proposed  so it would be even more special to get married there too & decided that there would be perfect. We stayed in the Riviera Select Club section (18+) which has a Jacuzzi in the room. It's a bit further from the beach about 5-10 minutes walk. They do have golf carts that drop you there but tbh sometimes the wait was far too long so we just walked. The scenery on the way is lovely so we enjoyed the walk.We saw a wedding there the day after and it looked beautiful. The effort they went to for my birthday decorating the room etc was amazing so I hope to imagine they do the same for us as wedding couples.

I agree it is reasonable & we will save a considerable amount doing it there than here in the UK.

I have decided on doing the Turquoise Breeze package.Which one are you going to have?

I would like a 5:30 ceremony which means that our reception would finish at 10:30. I think this might be a bit early & considering booking somewhere else within the hotel for an a few extra hours but need to find out what's available & costs. I know that we can't extend on the beach as it closes at 11:00 p.m :(.

If you have any questions with regard to the hotel let me know

That's great to hear!! We saw pictures and the beach looks amazing! One of the main reasons why we chose this resort! Oh that's good to know. I was wondering about the adult section and whether it's worth it for me and my fiancé to book there. Yeah, I would imagine they would be great with wedding couples as well. Gaby has been great so far :) Are most of the "standard" rooms close to the beach? We have lots of couples with kids coming too most people would stay in the main section.

I decided on the Serenity Blue package but now may be leaning towards the Turquoise Breeze package (hoping I can change it now). Was the wedding you saw on the beach or gazebo? The Serenity Blue comes with the gazebo location but I'm just not sure how nice it is, it's right in front of the beach but it's hard to tell, only saw one picture and others are mostly on the beach.

I'm going to have my ceremony at 4 and then cocktail hour from 5-6 then will have the reception from 7-11 and I was thinking we could all venture off to a bar or the disco?? Not sure about that yet either..

Glad there is another Sandos Playacar bride on here!

Too be honest the rooms in the adults section are slightly cheaper too.The adult section is to the right of the lobby where you check in, and has it's own adults only pool and swim up bar. They have bbq's there on certain days. It's a lovely place to be if you and your fiancé want some space and time to yourself without having children around you all the time (I hope that doesn't sound bad). The Family Riviera section is on the left hand side of the lobby so not too far from the adults section so you could all meet them in the lobby and all head to the beach.

Did you have to book your room before you could pay for the wedding? Booking rooms seems to be only 1 year ahead  and I was hoping to book the wedding more than a year in advance and I don't think you can without booking a room.

There is also the haciendas section to the middle of the resort which is also for family's. Then you have the beach section with rooms that face the ocean. I believe some of this section is adults only as well. The standard rooms are close to the beach.

Just bear in mind that whatever rooms you stay in, you will all have different colour wrist bands which entitles you to different things.

Gold Bracket - Select Club adults only rooms, daytime a la carte, beach house, private area on the beach. Access to premium drinks and premium bars (one of which is in the lobby where you check in).

Green Bracket - Family Section. No access to Select Club or Royal Elite areas

Purple Bracelet - those staying in Elite  rooms who are not timeshare members. They have access to the select club areas but their children do not

Black Bracelets - Royal Elite timeshare members and their guests. Full resort access aw well as their own daytime a la carte, pool and bar area and beach area.

We will most likely stay in the adult section again and meet up on the beach as you are able to use their section of the beach.

The Serenity Blue packages looks lovely too. The wedding we saw was on the beach (Turquoise Breeze) did have a gazebo type just big enough for you , your fiancé and the person that marries you to stand under, or a little bigger hard to explain. It has lovely white drapes. It did look nice but Gaby stated that you can also customize things to your style and taste (with a cost of course). Have you been on the Sandos Wedding website as if you click on the packages it will show you a picture of the type of set up you will have.

The gazebo where you would have your reception (Serenity Blue Package) is right on the beach & trust me if you did chose this package it  would be lovely and they decorate it for you, again I think any extras may be at a cost. I believe it holds around 30 people max.

I am happy I have found someone else too!! :D

Wow!! Thank you soo much for all this information!! This clarifies so many things! That's great! I ended up asking for quotes for the adult only section, I think it would be nice if we wanted to get away during the week

I actually was able to find a few agents that were ab,e to get me pricing (then got quotes directly for the tour operators) and booked the flights and wedding date last week! That's what ok bad you can't book flights yet but I think you can still book the wedding date you can just tell them you'll give them the booking number once it's booked. I think you kind of have too since dates go pretty fast. We didn't actually get our first choice! What month are you looking at?

Okay great! Yeah I think we may stick with the gazebo for now unless we decide all the extras are worth it as well! Have you contacted the coordinator yet? She gives you a "kit" with a bunch of extras and more details :) I'd be happy to fwd them to you as well

    • Unfortunately, pregnancy yoga training is a time of extreme. It's all part of the deal; even the stress is often a normal effect of the hormones that are raging through your system. But you have to keep stress at a controlled level because you have to think of your health and that of your baby. Here are some tips on how to keep stress at bay during pregnancy: 1. Evaluate your activities. Pregnancy is a time of many changes; your body is changing and your life is also about to change. You are transitioning to becoming a new mother. While you're at it, it's high time to change your activities as well. Evaluate your activities by checking your schedule. Perhaps you lived quite a busy life before. That can be pretty stressful and may even put your pregnancy at risk, so it would be best to slow things down a bit now that you're pregnant. Pregnancy has its way of affecting your mood and making you feel tired all the time, so there will be times when you just won't be productive. So instead of piling up on tasks, choose activities that you can drop or delegate to someone else. 2. Break the bad habits. Whether you really were trying to get pregnant or pregnancy crept up on you, somewhere along the way you will face the need to break your bad habits. What are these notorious bad habits you definitely have to say goodbye to during your pregnancy? · Smoking · Alcohol consumption · Too much coffee or any other beverage that contains caffeine One good way of breaking bad habits, even ones that you've had for years, is subliminal programming. Subliminal programming means re-training the mind; it works in two steps: · Removing negative embedded factors in the subconscious Since this method communicates directly with the subconscious, which is responsible for directing our actions and behaviors, it is more effective than consciously deciding to stop smoking or drinking. 3. Take up meditation. If you haven't tried it before, now is the best time to take up meditation. There are many tips and instructions online as well as many books on the subject. You can learn it on your own or join a meditation class. Meditation is the art of emptying the mind to relax both the mind and the body. It is also very effective in regulating emotions, which can be hard to control when you're pregnant. If you have plenty of time to spare, join a yoga class. 4. Block the horror stories. Every woman who's been pregnant loves telling her pregnancy stories to non-pregnant or newly pregnant women. It's their way of saying "welcome to the club." While good advice is particularly helpful, most women tend to share horror stories, or stories of how stressful and emotional pregnancy was for them. You may also use subliminal messages to train your mind to block these negative stories, so you can focus on the positive things about your pregnancy. There are many positive things, too, the biggest of which is the new life inside you, so you won't run out of good thoughts to nurture in your mind.   Safe and Easy Workouts to Do During Your Pregnancy The main rule of thumb when exercising while pregnant is to modify your workouts to suit the trimester you are in and to honor what is happening to your body. What is deemed appropriate for your first trimester is certainly not for your third trimester. However, there are several exercises that you can perform right through to the end. Let's examine the first trimester. You are just beginning your nine-month journey. You may be feeling a bit more tired, perhaps queazy, but you may not even be showing a baby bump yet. At this time, if you have already had a workout program in place, you can continue with what you've been doing.  Some doctors may not advise any lying down exercises at any time during your pregnancy, but speak with your physician to determine if this modification is necessary. Appropriate exercise for the first trimester: • your normal routine (within limits) • walking • swimming • low impact aerobics (keeping heart rate low) • strength training • yoga As you move into your second trimester, you may be feeling a surge of energy but your body is showing the pregnancy more and certain workouts may not feel as good. Around this time, lying down is not totally recommended and keeping heart rate low and core body temperature low is important. The importance of abdominal and pelvic floor strength should be highlighted throughout your pregnancy, so if you haven't already started, Kegal exercises should be implemented in all workouts you do. What is a Kegal? The pelvic floor muscles are like a hammock of muscles located at the base of your torso and under your pelvis. To do a Kegal, simply engage the muscles that you would use to urinate. Keeping these muscles strong may make for an easier birth and less pregnancy related incontinence. Appropriate exercise for the second trimester: • Kegal exercises • pelvic tilts (with head elevated with pillows) • walking • swimming • easy yoga • strength training (lighter weights) As you move into your third trimester, you are now getting to the top of your pregnancy weight which may change the way you stand, how long you can sit, and your sense of balance. Aches and pains from your changing body are probably felt more now. Workouts now become about making you comfortable and making sure you simply maintain what you have. A safe abdominal exercise, which also makes your back feel great, is an all-fours cat stretch and contraction. To do: on a rug or sticky mat, go down onto hands and knees. Keeping back straight, simply pull your abdominals in towards your spine without altering the straight position of your back.. Repeat 10 times. From there, round your back up, like an angry cat, feeling a stretch over your shoulders and spine, then release. Repeat 5 times. Prenatal yoga is great for elevating your mood, may help you sleep better, and decreases pregnancy aches and pains. Just make sure you speak with your doctor first and remember to never start a new program while pregnant. Keeping up with what you're doing is super and will make for an easier birth and a faster recovery.
