Anyone Bring Own Photographer/videographer With Them?

Recommended Posts

I am bringing a friend that I work with to shoot our wedding video for us. He shoots wedding videos on the side so he has professional equipment. We're not paying him a fee per say, but we are covering his travel/accommodations.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is there any sort of paperwork he needs to fill out to shoot our wedding? I read somewhere here where someone's photographer got stopped at customs because he/she wasn't licensed to work in Mexico. Would that apply in this situation?

Welcome to the boards rkilmer0319 and Congrats on your upcoming destination wedding!!! You've come to a great place for excellent resources which will help answer your planning questions.....like the one you just asked about bringing your own photographer/videographer with you.

It's illegal for someone to come to Mexico and photograph a wedding without proper working papers. The same way people can not just travel to the USA or Canada and work. Cancun airport is aware of this and as you will see... scans all luggage arriving when you go through customs. People traveling with more than one camera will need to answer for the equipment. We're not trying to scare you... just give you the facts of working in a foreign country.

Why create such an unnecessary risk  and possibly create a very unhappy situation - on your very important once-in-a-lifetime wedding trip?

This is a time you want to feel confident that all your plans are in place securely, and for it all to run smoothly and pleasantly!

We're not suggesting you hire our studio, there are lots of great professionals in our Cancun area who've gone through the lengthy process required to work here legally, and would create an amazing record of your Wedding Day Love Story you'll cherish forever! It's your choice.

We've recently extended our package options to accommodate more spending plans and make it easier for our wedding couples.

We wish you happy research, and all the best with your plans - cheers!!! Moments That Matter Photography team :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
