@@MesaMiso Congratulations to you too! I commented some to you on another thread about my wedding planner anxiety. ???? The other planning stuff is going well. We sent out invitations in November with a deposit due date of March 3. Planning on sending a post card to those who have made comments but haven't RSVP'd or made a deposit a couple weeks prior to that. I will not harass some family members who we *had* to invite, but knew they wouldn't/couldn't come. Hahahahaha

We are doing a dia de los muertos theme and people really loved the invites! We're doing teal and orange, not gothic or Halloween looking. We're only having a maid of honor and best man. Our dresses are bought, the guys will be figured out this summer. I bought oot bags from wedding chicks on black Friday for 50% off. We're expecting a small group, so I just got 24. Planning on tumblers, key card holders, hangover kits etc. But I'm waiting until we have a definite number. Then Etsy will be in the cards constantly, because I am not a crafter. I used a hand stamp on the back of the invites and that was stressful. Hahah Also ordering flowers from Etsy, I love sola flowers, so I hope they make it there in 1 piece! I found metal buckets at Target at Halloween with a cut out sugar skull and a papal picado type border. I'm going to spray paint them and use them for centerpieces with flowers and tea lights. Also getting mini sugar skull pinatas for the table and doing custom maracas for favors.

We used Beach Bum Vacations for our room block. Lisa is great. She's been able to communicate with them better than me. I'm going to be patient until I have a number, and then be more aggressive in getting everything in writing to change our reception.

How's your planning going? How many people are you expecting?

@@rebeccarpeck1 WOW! You are sooo on top of it!! I literally haven't done anything yet :/  Everything you're doing sounds amazing!! I would love to start sending out my save the dates but I just don't know how to direct my guest with booking. Did you hire your travel agent on your own or did Hyatt Ziva assign one? We are expecting to have about 50-60 but who knows since it is a destination wedding. Did you do the big day preview? Did you book your vendors already?

@@MesaMiso Don't worry, you have plenty of time and it will all come together! We had originally talked about getting Married in November 2016, but it didn't pan out for a few reasons, so I have been searching for things for a long time!

We got 3 quotes on rooms, 2 online and one from a local travel agency. We chose Beach Bum because not only was it the least expensive, but I really felt a good connection with my agent, Lisa. I just felt like people depending on us (me hahahahaha) for travel arrangements would just be something I didn't want to deal with. Now, she can arrange flights, but we and many of our guests will book our own flights with miles/points.

A travel agent can also help communicate with the wedding department. This has been invaluable since we are on the 6th planner! Lisa got me emails within a day, after I had waited up to 2 weeks. Things are better now, so maybe the changes they made at the end of last year are getting the bugs out.

We aren't able to do a preview, so that kind of adds to the amount of questions I have. We aren't having a DJ , it's just not "us." One of the reasons we chose a destination wedding is to avoid many of the expected or traditional wedding things! We're using the resort's vendor for lighting (we're having the reception by the fire pits), I'm bringing decor, so that's not an issue. The place where we are still undecided is photography. Photopro "seems" OK, but we're still thinking we might splurge and get an outside vendor.

Have you made any progress?

@@rebeccarpeck1 I totally agree with you regarding Photopro. Do you know how much it is for outside vendors? Do you need to get them a guest pass on top of paying the outside vendor fees? Sounds like you have a great travel agent!! Will your travel agent match prices if one of your guest find a cheaper price on another website like expedia? I'm still debating on booking a travel agent.

How is everything going with you? Hope all is well!! Happy Valentines day!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
