Hi there!   Hard Rock Riviera Maya bride here, April 2017.  We have our resort booked, wedding website done, bought my dress... in the process now of looking for photographers!  Did anyone else get a lot of anxiety about signing a contract and sending money to someone in a different country, without meeting them?!

Hi @@MichelleFawn congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You must be getting so excited!!!

You are going to have an amazing time at the Hard Rock resort. We actually photographed our very first wedding there two years ago and we had an amazing experience.

Oh, and if you're anxious about sending money (which is totally understandable) before meeting photographers we are never opposed to planning a Skype video date or even chatting on the phone to get to know each other before setting anything in stone.

As dreamart mentioned you simply need to read our reviews and testimonials from previous couples to understand that we are professional.

And on that note, if you are wanting to hire a team that will give you more personal attention, where you wont get lost in a sea of other weddings and couples think of us. We're two friendly Canadians who love getting to know the couples we work with and not only create some absolutely breathtaking photographs but hopefully build a lasting friendship. <3

@MichelleFawn

CONGRATS ON YOUR UPCOMING WEDDING!!  We'll be right ahead of you :-)  We're getting married at the Ocean Coral & Turquesa in March 2017.  Listen, I TOTALLY 1000% get your concern about sending money randomly down there... in hopes that the photographer/company doesn't  A)fail   B) is a scam or  C)leaves town with your cash.  Totally understandable.  I definitely had a similar concern.  So this is what I'll say about it.... TRUST and VERIFY  Trust your instincts and Verify their credibility.

My fiancé and I went down this past April to check out the place, but also went for it and did an underwater engagement/wedding shoot with Sebi Messina. http://www.sebimessinaphotography.com.  I was trepidatious.  We talked to him on the phone via Skype prior to me signing the agreement and I KNEW he was the one!  Super professional!  Went above and beyond to make our photos incredible and does Extraordinary Work!!!

I did A LOT of research beforehand because, well, lets be honest... it a Big financial commitment, last thing you want to be worrying about on your wedding day is "did the photographer show up?" and, when it comes to wedding photos, there is no do-overs...hopefully :D .  LOL!

I don't know who you're thinking of going with (there's a lot of amazing choices down there for sure).  But coming from someone who is a working professional in show business; who knows what quality production, experience and photography is like.  In my opinion, you'd be hard pressed to find a better, more honest, genuine, super talented, artistic, thoughtful, caring with loads of integrity photographer down there.  His pictures truly tell a stories.

So that's my 2 cents.  Yes I have become partial to the talents of Sebi and No I'm not getting paid to say this.  Haha!  He really is amazing and I cannot wait to have him shoot our wedding in April.  I know I'm in amazing hands and that's important.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to PM me.  I get your concerns and acknowledge you for being a 'smart shopper' when it comes to making this big decision.  All the best to you and your fiancé!

We are getting married May 2017 (different resort) and chose a photographer based on the style & reviews.

To help with your hesitation, look at photographers websites, reviews and testimonies (they can be found all over the Internet). This should help weed out the posers!!

Also, your photographer will send you a contract to read through before you put your deposit in, this should help clarify all questions and worst case scenarios, etc.

Hope this helps!!! I'm sure whatever photographer you go with, will take beautiful photos and everything will work out wonderful!

@MichelleFawn CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming Hard Rock 2017 wedding! What an amazing place to have a wedding, the Hard Rock Resort on Xpu-ha beach is gorgeous. We have beautified a number of brides there on their wedding day.

In terms of feeling anxious about sending money to vendors, let us reassure you this is an enormously popular place for destination weddings and people come here for a reason ---it's paradise AND because there is a big wedding industry here. So you can always plan a Skype or Face to face call (on Facetime) or other method before making a decision and/or sending money. That's what a lot of our past brides have done. Chatting with vendors really helps to get to know one another before setting dates and signing contracts. Also, visiting websites and other social media channels help to see how much experience a vendor has. But rest assured, there are so many wonderful professionals here and every photographer listed here is of the utmost professional. We have worked with all of them.

Lastly, if interested in finding out the best way to keep your makeup "put" and gorgeously in place, consider professional airbrush makeup. Here's some more info on the topic --> http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wedding-tips/c/planning/q-a-is-airbrush-makeup-ideal-in-a-tropic-r2326And some photos posted below of our work.

Good luck and happy planning!

We totally understand the reluctance of doing business online and agree with lots of the advice you're getting here. It's wonderful to talk with your considered vendor in person, and also check out what other wedding couples have to say about their experience with them.

Here's a link to lots of reviews to help you decide whether the vendor you're considering is reputable and trustworthy: Vendor Reviews It's always helpful to hear what other couples thought of hiring those vendors, for sure!

Hopefully you'll find these suggestions helpful and feel more comfortable about the vendor you choose and confident about sending them deposit money to reserve their services....cheers!!! Moments That Matter Photography team :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
