Here are some things I found:

(This from http://www.theknot.com/ch_article.ht...3247&x=20&y=14)

Invitation Wording: Divorced parents are hosting jointly (formal)

Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Miller &

Ms. Rachel M. Wood

request the honor of your presence

at the marriage of their daughter

Karen Percy Miller

to Michael Francis Jacobson

Saturday, the seventeenth of May

two thousand and eight

at half past four in the afternoon

or

Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Miller &

Ms. Rachel M. Wood

request the pleasure of your company

at the marriage of their daughter

Karen Percy Miller

to Michael Francis Jacobson

Saturday, the seventeenth of May

two thousand and eight

at half past four in the afternoon

Note:

A good rule of thumb is to list whomever is paying for the majority of the wedding, first.

"request the honor of your presence" is traditionally only used if the ceremony is taking place in a house of worship.

Invitation Wording: Divorced parents are hosting jointly (casual)

Charles and Linda Miller

with Rachel M. Wood

invite you to the wedding of their daughter

Karen Percy Miller

to Michael Francis Jacobson

Saturday, May 17, 2008

at 4:30 in the afternoon

or

Charles and Linda Miller

with Rachel M. Wood

invite you to share and celebrate at the marriage of their daughter

Karen Percy Miller

to Michael Francis Jacobson

Saturday, May 17, 2008

at 4:30 in the afternoon

or

Charles and Linda Miller

with Rachel M. Wood

invite you to share in their joy at the marriage of their daughter

Karen Percy Miller

to Michael Francis Jacobson

Saturday, May 17, 2008

at 4:30 in the afternoon

These suggestions are from http://weddings.about.com/cs/invitat...ationword.htm:

Brides parents are divorced:

either

Issued by the parent who raised her

Ms. Janet Myers

requests the honor of your presence

at the wedding of her daughter

Anne Catherine

etc.

or

Divorced parents are hosting the wedding together

Mr. Christopher Myers

and

Ms. Janet Myers request the honor of your presence

at the marriage of their daughter

Anne Catherine

Divorced parent and new stepparent are hosting the wedding:

Mr. and Mrs. Marc Velez

request the honor of your presence

at the marriage of Mrs. Velez's daughter

Anne Catherine Myers

etc.

Child of divorced and remarried parents both hosting the wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Myers

and

Mr. and Mrs. Marc Velez

request the honor of your presence

at the marriage of their daughter

Anne Catherine

etc.

OR

Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Myers

and

Mr. and Mrs. Marc Velez

request the honor of your presence

at the marriage of the daughter of Mr. Myers and Mrs. Velez

Anne Catherine

to

etc.

There are about a bajillion websites that pop up if you google it, but I thought these two were pretty succinct.

We have a similar situation as well. Even if we had listed them all, someone would have been upset about the order they were listed so we left the names out. We did a greeting card style invite that doubled as a save the date. Here's our wording:

We're getting married!

Together with our parents

We invite you to join us in sunny

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

On January 13, 2007

Please visit our website to RSVP and make travel arrangements

by September 1st, 2006 at:

www.aaronandjennifer.com

A reception will follow in La Crosse, WI on February 17, 2007

Love,

Jennifer and Aaron

OK another question- I go by my middle name- so on invitations do i put:

mr and mrs lastname

request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter

kathryn nicole

to...........

or can i put:

mr and mrs lastname

request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter

nicole lastname

to.........

it just feel really weird to list my legal first name on the invite because NOBODY knows me by that name. what do you guys think?

  • 3 weeks later...

So, FI and I are paying for the wedding....and I need to finalize our invitation wording. I've read through verseit.com's ideas, and they mostly all make me want to barf! I'm thinking applying the KISS (keep it simple stupid!) concept works best, what do you think of this?

The honor of your company is requested as
Christa Lastname
&
Rafael Lastname
Say “I do”
March seventeenth Two Thousand Seven at five o’clock in the afternoon
Cabo Surf Hotel
San José Del Cabo, México
Cocktail hour & reception immediately follow ceremony

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
