@@Kcusack89 I chose 2 dishes from each section so 2 apps, 2 entrees and 2 desserts and I asked to taste a dish from the Buffett menu. But now that I'm looking at the menus I'm kind of confused. I'm doing the lavish and opulent package which comes with the Buffett but I didn't realize that before so I wish I would have tried more from that menu if I decide to stick with that.

Oooh I see so you choose dishes from each area per the options.

My coordinators email didn't make much sense at all I was like why is she saying we can mix and match I don't want to try all these dishes and then be like oh I cant have the jerk chicken and snapper bc they are two different options.

I asked if it was possible to add to the sit down menu maybe two dishes instead of one. My fiance thinks the buffet isn't classy. I don't mind the buffet but I also feel like I've just accepted it at the point but we did choose lavish and opulent as well so may be stuck with the buffet.

It stinks bc I really like option 2 but I hate the sale and dessert that comes with that option. I wish u could build your own menu

@@Kcusack89 the buffet seems pretty limited though so we may actually go with the plated option since that was what we tried. We were under the impression at our tasting that we get more than the one option so I just asked my coordinator about it because I feel like 1 dish doesn't really make sense. And I know they can take special requests for food allergies so hopefully they let us use more than 1.

Also, does your menu say an addition 25% charge for the menu prices? i don't see any prices listed so I'm super confused. Is your reception outside? Mine is and I just realized they charge $25pp for a set up fee? Do you know anything about that?

Woah where did you see 25 per person set up fee?! That's ridiculous it should be included. My reception is on the terrace of the Brazilian restaurant so inside outside.

I just went over my contract and don't see anything for the 25 per person set up.

I'm going there Monday I'm so anxious at this point. I feel like my fiance will rage if theres one more hidden fee.

Yeah, maybe I have the wrong packet I don't know. I tried to upload it here but I can't figure out how to. I'm glad your going soon so you can ask all your questions in person. Your location is going to be nice, it wasn't available for my date so I'm on the decks.

Ladies!!!

This week went by in a blink. My visit was wonderful! It was short but it definitely was well wroth it and I got all the information I needed to make a decision. We are saying yes to Hyatt! I wont be having my ceremony at the sky deck anymore, instead I want to have the ceremony at the wedding gazebo. It's so nice! Plus, the sky deck would require extra decor in my opinion and it's just one less thing to worry about. They had a wedding going on the Saturday we were there so it was perfect. We got to catch a peek here and there of the different set-up options and day-of planning as it was being executed. Everything was so so well put together and ran smoothly. The wedding was beautiful!!! I took some pictures for us which you can see in my Hyatt Ziva album.  Having upload problems right now but it should be up soon,

@@tiffanyt - I checked with them to confirm and they said that there is absolutely no set-up or break down fee.

I'm going to go with their flowers and decor quoted because i am so ready to just kick my feet up and let them take care of everything. The centerpieces are pricey but the wedding reception I saw last Saturday was STUNNING! So I'm just like ok, do your thang with the centerpieces, Hyatt. The reception we saw was on the ballroom terrace (which is apparently not an official wedding venue so it can only be confirmed 45 days out for your reception so long no one else - company retreat/business meeting - has booked it). I was a bit bummed to hear that but i am hoping we can get the terrace. We can rent it up front for an astronomical fee.  We are going to see if we can buy an option for that because my hubby to be feels strongly that the reception has to be there and he doesnt want to leave it to chance. One thing at a time, I'm just glad we have our venue!

@@Kcusack89 I know you are planning to head there tomorrow. How are travel plans going? Do you think you will still make the trip? I have been watching the forecast and it looks like Hurricane Matthew will pass by closer to the east coast on Monday. I'm not sure how how far the residual rain and wind will affect your travel but sending you all the good vibes. Even if the weather isnt the best when you visit, just know that the place is beautiful and your day will be spectacular!

Hey ladies yup my big day preview looks like a wash out. At this point our flight is in with a 90% chance of rain and wing all three days were there. I'm not thrilled. I think it's selfish of me to have them catering to my wedding needs while the storm happens. The hotel is in a state of emergency but is honoring my stay if I decide to cancel and go another time. I'm worried about booking vendors at this point and I'm scared if I go I'm not getting a very good preview of the hotel.

Leaning toward canceling and rescheduling. Just waiting for my flight to either cancel or delay so I can refund other wish I'm stuck paying a 400 dollar cancelation fee for me and my fiance.

On a happier note I can't wait to see pictures!

@@Bride2Be2017 that's so great to hear! Can't wait to see the pics! I loved the ballroom terrace and was so upset to learn that it's not really an official wedding space because we would have picked that too. Did you get to have your makeup or hair trial? The wedding gazebo is gorgeous! Do you know where you're going to do your cocktail hour?

@@Kcusack89 Oh no! I understand what you mean though, you won't be able to really enjoy it with the storm going on and since it is in a state of emergency its kind of risky. Will the airline give you a credit tho if you tell them that the resort is I'm a state of emergency?

@@tiffanyt I can try but I doubt it. They will let us fly out until the 7th with no fees but with work schedules we cant make that work. Not sure what exactly we will do st this point. Have you guys booked your DJ,mc, and cocktail hour entertainment yet

@@Kcusack89 I haven't booked them yet. I know I want a steel drum band at the cocktail hour but as far as booking the DJ and MC how does that work? Is there a list of Djs to choose from or is it just like a yes we want one and its booked?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
