We wanted to be budget friendly for our guests as well and we went with Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. One of their wedding options is the rooftop terrace which overlooks the ocean as well. While we have chosen a beach ceremony, we are most likely using the terrace for our reception. The cost for our guests from edmonton is 1735 pp based on double occupancy. for Dec 1-8. Apparently they do some pretty great weddings there!

We are all a little bit bias towards our own resorts I think.

We chose Azul Fives in Riviera Maya because of the Sky Deck. We also did not want a beach wedding and as soon as I saw these photos we fell in love. The Sky Deck costs $1800 to rent for the reception and then another $15 per plate on top of the food you select. For this view, we felt it was worth it.

The resort itself isn't cheap but if you are flexible with which month you get married, you can get affordable rates. The Sky Deck itself holds 200 people so you will be able to fit your party no problem.

Hi,

I am also trying to look at different options. Which package do you have ? And also are you paying any extras such as a dj, decorations, or anything else? Or just the package and extra for the sky gazebo? And food?

@karinaL  Congrats on planning your DW! Choosing your resort is the hardest part. Once that's done then you can start having a bit of fun with the planning. Isn't your TA helping you with your resort choice? You should be able to tell them what you want and they should be giving you suggestions that stay within your budget, your price point for your guests and your specific wants and don't wants. I just feel like you shouldn't be struggling with this.

The one thing you'll see if you read through the threads here is that we highly recommend working with a good travel agent. Once your guests start booking, you'll need a good agent to walk them through their process. You want someone that you can refer them to when they have questions so that you don't have to do it yourself. You don't say if you're in the US or canada but the owners of this site are top rated travel agents. Tammy already suggested her link for you to contact her. I think you would be super happy if you just reached out to them. I'm sure they would be able to give you information so that you can make an informed decision about where to spend the most special day of your life!

Good luck and happy planning!!

I have been weighing some options myself... I looked at the azul fives but found it too expensive. The beach location isn't very private if you're really into a beach wedding. The sky deck option is great, but costs an additional $1800USD for the ceremony, and $15 per person extra on top of the dinner per person.

I also looked at the Now Jade, Now Sapphire, and the price per person was pretty high.

I liked the Akumal bay beach resort, but it was too far from the airport, and was a smaller quieter resort.

I have most likely picked the Royalton Riviera Cancun, which has many options for ceremony and dinner. Their Sky Deck option is $1500USD additional, however I do like their beach option, followed by a dinner reception at their nautica beach bar! The resort is just over a year old, so the rooms are quite modern, and I've heard great reviews about the beds too!

Hope that helps.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll see if I have feedback from my experience :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
