Hi ladies,

I am trying to plan a wedding for 2016 fall at The newly redesigned Hyatt Ziva but I'm feeling quite nickel and dimed here. Has anyone gone to meet with the coordinator? Is it worth the prices?? I mean $6 per chair and $2000 for a dance floor is kind of a lot no? Am I just out of the loop on planning a wedding in Mexico? I thought the whole idea of getting married down there is so save money! Any thoughts/insights would be appreciated.

Thank you!!

@@Happiegerl I have done weddings at many resorts in the Riviera Maya. I must those are pretty common prices at some of the Resorts here.

I must say there is a huge stigma about Destination wedding in Mexico, saying its affordable! Truth be told ,Destination Wedding are not always affordable. one key factor decide on where you are going to put your money.  For example find out the type of dance floor they are charging you for that price? maybe you might want to reply to the coordinator checking the type of dance floor they offer. you might just be offered a second option.  Same goes for the chair, what type of chair is it? you might find out that they are charging you a chair based on latest wedding trend.

Happy Planning!

@Happiegerl Congratulations on your upcoming destination wedding!  I was just at the Grand Opening Gala at Hyatt Ziva Cancun that took place last month and met with the Weddings Manager while staying there.  The resort is stunning and has great wedding venues.  The $6 per chair is very standard with each resort and decor company.  As @@dreamweddings suggested there may be options for the dance floor depending what type and size you require.  Feel free to private message me with any questions as I am one of the Canadian TA's for BDW or contact through this form here if you need help you with planning your dream destination wedding!

We just booked our wedding for September 2016 at the Hyatt Ziva and their prices are pretty standard. They don't offer as many perks as other hotels when booking group rooms but I'm just so happy w/ the location and beach!

@@TAPreety - Since you were recently there what room do you recommend for bride and groom to book (we do get a an upgrade I was told ) Any suggestions for the location of cocktail/reception?

@@JRodz Welcome to BDW and congrats for your wedding at Hyatt Ziva Cancun!

I posted photos to my agency instagram @travelbyplatinum as you can see the room view I had which was the Hyatt Ziva Dolphin View Master King plus photos around the resort.  Double check to what category you will receive for your upgrade but note they are not always guaranteed and based on availability at check-in.  For this reason it may be better to pick the category you wish to have for your stay as the views are worth it!

How many people are expecting to attend?  There are some great rooftop terraces depending on size.  Where are you planning on having your wedding ceremony?

Let me know if you have any other questions I am happy to help.

Hi TAPreety, we have 40 ppl going working on a 20 room block. Not sure which room best for me and FH. We're staying 10 days. The rooftop terraces are rooms? Haven't decided on location yet but thinking beach ceremony or gazebo.

Can't wait to see your pictures!!

@@JRodz the rooftop terraces I was referring to are for the wedding location venues.  Check with your wedding coordinator what is available for your dates and what would best accommodate your group size.

For your choice of room I would recommend going with a view that you really want.  There are some great swim up suites available as well with oceanviews too.

Please let me know if there is anything else?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
