My fiancé is about to cancel our wedding in November in Puerto Rico because of the out break there. I think, it it's going to get worse, then we're not much safer in Texas versus there, but I think we're making a rash decision.

Help!

@@TXZach I like that you are saying "I think we're making a rash decision" the media is powerful, and things always look worse than they already are.  unless you dont here from a person who is currently living in Puerto Rico or who just traveled there.its going to be difficult for you to convince him. maybe advice him to wait for 1 month more and then decide.

@@JoannaBanana that is really too bad. I can totally relate, our wedding went from 36 guests down to 29 because of this. I lost a bridesmaid and my maid of honor. Although the my maid of honor is not pregnant she still believes that her 6 month old is in danger. It is completely ridiculous but no matter what information I send her, she still thinks that there is danger. Also she believes that she will contract the disease and pass it to her baby through breastfeeding ! It's totally crazy. Not much I can do.

  • 1 month later...

Yup! My best friend/ bridesmaid literally just popped out a baby and are scared she will get Zika and it's going to be in her system for the next baby so she bailed. Ugh! I'm pretty sure every bride that wants kids is in the same boat!

Soooo.... A week ago the best man cancelled because he changed jobs. Now we're hearing from others that it's because they are trying to conceive. Trying. That's just... Ugh.... You can't wait? Then test after?

It's not like May 7-14 is that long away. Wow. Sorry Hun.

Sadly people are going to believe what they want to believe no matter how much information you give them. There is more power in the media than people realize. Just today I read that the US CDC is transferring the Ebola money over to investigating/researching Zika. I also know Brazil started a major insecticide spray campaign to kill the mosquitos. But the news media blowing it way out of proportion is what everyone will focus on.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
