It looks like my fiance are going to be getting married at the Hyatt Ziva thanksgiving week.

For those of you who have been to the resort or seen photos of the sky gazebo, is there a lot of light there?

I ask because the photo I've seen is sort of dark and I can't tell if it's because it was taken late in the day.

Hi all! Im getting married at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun June 4th and visited in February for the Big Day Preview. I'll upload some photos of the Gazebo and Sky Terrace (the one that is NOT adults only). We're having our ceremony in the Gazebo and cocktail hour/reception at the Sky Terrace. Now that I'm finally getting somewhere with planning, I'll try to keep everyone updated. So far, I've only received things that have already been uploaded. Hoping to get a quote for decorations soon ????.

As far as lighting on the Terrace it does get some but is still shaded (it's semi-covered with wooden beams that you can kind of see in one of the photos). Our cocktail hour/reception will both be there and will begin at 530 so we'll probably incorporate some lighting.

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

Thanks for the great photos!

For those of you who are planning on doing the ceremony at the cliffside gazebo: What are you doing in terms of decorations?

I asked Margarita for some photos, but I haven't seen anything in terms of actually ceremony set-up. Thinking some flowers and/or white curtains.

Hi there! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I just got back from the Hyatt Ziva last week and it is STUNNING!! We took the wedding tour and our thinking we may book it for our wedding next year. I was wondering, you mentioned that Gama Grupo is doing your decor, idk if this is a silly question but do the tables and chairs and settings come along with the wedding package or are they also additional? I've been in contact with Jessica asking questions but I also wanted a bride's perspective on the process! Good luck!!

Hi everyone,

Congratulations on your wedding! I am looking to book for September 2017. From Scotland so unfortunately probably wont get out until the actual Wedding.

Can I ask how everyone is finding the planning? Did you book with a tour operator or directly with the hotel? Also does the wedding package cover most things or are there a lot of additional costs?

Any help is much appreciated! Have cancelled my current wedding in Scotland as I changed my mind and want to go abroad so want to make sure I am 100% certain this time!

:)

It depends which package you choose. The upper end ones include quite a bit. My fiance and I are doing the Lavish and Opulent package, but there are others. Link to them below.

I think things start to add up if when you want to customize the look of your wedding or add additional decor or entertainment.

Brides: I got the following list of cake flavors from our wedding coordinator, but was a little confused as to whether these are all actually wedding cake flavors.

Some of these (ie cupcake, brownie, macarons) don't seem like it. Is the biscuit a cake flavor, for example?

Rose roses and champagne cream cupcake tower

Red velvet biscuit, strawberry with coconut cream covered

Hazelnut and almond cake with strawberry and hazelnut chocolate cream

Vanilla and caramelized pecan nuts with green apple cream

Blue Berry biscuit with lemon and mascarpone cheese cream

Raspberry, lemon, almond, Irish cream and champagne macarons tower

Mocha and White chocolate brownie with bourbon whiskey cream

Naked red mix berries and roses with vanilla cream

Chocolate/strawberry biscuit with Frangelico liquor and hazelnut cream

Vanilla and orange biscuit with Oreo cookies cream and truffles

Just got back from my trip to Cancun! We were able to do a site inspection at the Hyatt Ziva. It was amazing!! I fell in love! So happy with my new location. The pictures do not do it any justice. It's breathtaking in person. Originally I wanted to get married on the beach but the gazebo is definitely the place to do it.

@@Amandab1378 have you found any decorations for the gazebo? My next step is deciding on decorations!

I'm still in search of a photographer and videographer. I wasn't too impressed w/ the one contracted w/ the hotel. I met w/ one of their reps and was very disappointed w/ the lack of preparation for the meeting. So if anyone can share who you're working with it would be great!

@JRodz In terms of decorations for the gazebo, I'm still trying to figure out what to do. Thinking some sort of white curtains on the pillars and flowers. I haven't seen any photos of ceremonies at the site for inspiration so I'm sort of flying blind at this point.

Are you guys planning on having the cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony? I keep going back and forth on whether to do it one hour after just to allow time for photos.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
