Wedding Packages And Additional Costs

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie and I am completely overwhelmed during my search for a resort. I do not know where to begin! Right now I am looking at getting married either in May or August 2016 with approximately  35-50 guests.  I am looking at places in Mexico (still trying to decide where).

While looking at wedding packages online, I wanted to know what are some additional costs that you can expect?

I always thought that packages included everything you need (I REALLY WISH!) but I am slowly beginning to notice that some really important items are missing from packages such as photography, videography, DJ, and reception! For those experienced brides, how much did you incur in additional expenses?

It is worth working with a complimentary wedding package and then working to upgrade or input extra costs towards all the extras?

Thanks so much :)

Congrats on your engagement!! You are right, there are lots of additional costs, which is annoying and they add up fast.   Most of the wedding packages are for the wedding ceremony only.

We've had to budget for hair and makeup, photographer, DJ, private dinner and reception.  Any extra decorations will be extra, but I'm not very creative, and I think Mexico is a place that won't require a ton of decorations. The back drop (ocean, sand, etc) is enough for me :)

Dear Johana!

Congratulations on your engagement!!

choose a location for your wedding seems difficult but how about a paradisiac venue like "Las Caletas"

Las Caletas is a truly magical place to exchange your vows and celebrate this special occasion. It is our private beach cove in the south bay of Puerto Vallarta Mexico and is only accessible by sea, giving it the seclusion and ambiance of an island hideaway. It covers an enormous area and features several beaches, a pyramid amphitheater built into the tropical forest and mountain side, various facilities/buildings (spa, kitchens, eating areas/restaurants, bars, restrooms, etc.), and several hundred acres of tropical forest.

We offer 3 different packages.(Professional photo, video, Dj, and many details you can add)

@Vjohana you have a very common question , lets dive into your answer,

My advise since you want an all inclusive resort, first step identify the things that are a must have for you (such prices point, amenities, family friendly etc). Then get a travel agent.  now you might want look for someone who specializes in destination wedding. the owner of this page is TA. ask them to give you hotels that have more benefits. The number of guests also pay a huge part in your wedding packages.  some hotels will include certain for up 20 guests.

All inclusive doesn't mean you get everything, as you have found out, but there a number of hotels that cover food, bar and rentals (chairs and tables)

The following are not covered in the wedding packages.

DJ

photographer

Flowers

Decor

Hair and make up

PS: if you hire the above from outside, be aware the hotel will be charging an outside vendor fee.

(which differs from hotel to hotel)

Happy Planning!
