2016 Iberostar Rose Hall Suites Brides

Recommended Posts

I'm curious what everyone is doing for their table decor! We're planning to do the semi-private dinner at Aunt Ruby's and then have the beach bonfire afterwards. I can't bring myself to pay for centerpieces for an 1.5 hour dinner! I'm thinking about just keeping it simple with some pink rose petals, candles, and starfish/shells scattered on the table. Does anyone know if its usually round or long tables? Hope everyones planning is going well!

Hi Ladies,

I hope everyone's planning is going well!

I find myself online reading reviews almost everyday.  I have been all over SunGold's (resort photographer) website trying to decide if we should use them or bring someone else in.  Also, I'm trying to find someone who can do a video (any suggestions?)

I'm confused about the decorations and flowers.  I assumed that the decorations would be included but I'm seeing lots of reviews of brides who brought in outside flower vendors, decorators, etc.  Anyone have any suggestions or tips with these things?

Any help will be appreciated.

Iberostar only provides the basics, which is not enough.  I would recommend speaking to your wedding coordinator to exactly find out what their providing for you on your wedding day (trust me not much). To get everything you want for your wedding, hiring a florist is definitely needed. My wedding is in September and I'm working on either getting Floral Fantasy or Godfrey Guy, pushing towards Godfrey based on his package deal.

The photographer that Iberostar is providing seems really cheesy, especially for the amount of money their asking  . Therefore, I outed out and decided to find an outside vendor called Lenox photography, they provide a videographer in their package deal as well. I heard of another good photographer, Denise Mason but she doesn't have a videographer so I didn't go with her.

I hope this helps!

Hi Brides,

Congrats to you all. I got married at the suites back in August of 2015 and I'm willing to offer any support I can. I'm a coordinator here in the states and a former destination bride so I understand the anxiety of having a destination wedding. The one thing you don't have to worry about is the resort it is BEAUTIFUL!!!! All 3. Of course the grand is the best of them all because they cost more but I wouldn't have traded my stay at the suites for the world. The staff is wonderful, Nicole the coordinator is very professional and although she may not respond right away she really does have it together. Here's a quick review

Hair and make-up- RUN LIKE HELL (If your an African woman). I HATED my hair and makeup. Luckily the photographer I flew in is also a hair dresser and hooked me up...as far as my make-up I still hate it...Lol!

DJ. I used DJ Kevin's company he sent someone else I can't think of his name but he had us rocking ALL night long. We had some bystanders trying to get in to the wedding....LOL!

Decorations. Godfrey Guy was sent from heaven above. This man eats, sleeps and breaths weddings. He is awesome when it comes to communication, went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. Oh and he's ALOT cheaper than Tai flowers and way more creative. You can see pics from my wedding on his Facebook page. Keep in mind he's a local with a thick accent...Lol! But I love him

Calabash- I had a private reception at this restaurant, you can request a Jamaican cuisine it was delish.

Wedding cake - sucks...if you happen to work with Godfrey let him recommend a baker, the one he ordered for me was soooooooooooo amazing

cocktail hour- I had this by the pool...beautiful set-up thanks to Godfrey but waste of money. The food they offered no one ate it and it was infested with ants

That's the crash review hope this helps

Thanks for your post!

I was contemplating if I should just use Iberostar wedding cake.  What vendor did you use for your cake, and how much was your estimated cost if you don't mind me asking?

Hey all! I'm officially 2 months out as of today! Our guest count is 41 plus us. At this point, were planning for a beach ceremony, semi-private dinner at Aunt Ruby's, and beach bonfire after with the DJ (jamaicaweddingdj, resorts preferred vendor) I got fed up with Tai Flora's poor communication and what we got for the money, so we went ahead and booked Floral Fantasies!

We have Misha Earle for photography and Lexon for videography (I would've booked him for both photo/video, but we had already booked Misha). Now I'm just trying to hammer out some of the smaller details.

I'm curious if anyone is bringing table runners? My color is a mint blue and I found some cute mint burlap runners on Etsy, but I'm waiting to hear back from the resort what size the tables are at Aunt Ruby's so I know what size to order! How is everyone else's planning going??!

Hi Ladies,

I am booked at the Suites for my wedding January 28, 2017. I would love to toss ideas around and see how things are going for you all and get any tips from those who have already been there.

We have about 70 total guests and will be on the beach. Ours is a little complicated as the groom's mother is in a wheelchair and we're having to make a covered aisle over the sand so she can come down it as well. Any advice? It is so hard to understand what they're referring to without having been there. We are trying to have it start at the little boardwalk and go down the aisle so it's seamless for her. I just haven't been able to get clear photos of how it all connects and distance.

Has anyone seen the beach ceremony location in person? Is there an area for the reception near there that isn't on the sand?

Also, what vendors are you using? It seemed like the paperwork only wants you to use Tai Flora, but I saw other bride's there have done different vendors.

I hope the planning is going well for everyone!

Hi!

Did you end up going with Godfrey Guy? After reading so many people suggest him on here and seeing other reviews, I found his information and reached out to him. I am finding him to be really pushy though. He keeps telling me I need to book him right away to secure pricing. Definitely raises a red flag.

Has anyone else had those issues? I'm wondering if I have the right guy or an imposter. Is his email [email protected]? Just want to be sure before any money is transferred.

Also, have you found that the resort charges a fee to use him instead of Tai Flora? The contract seems pretty specific that it has to be them.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Brides!

I'm just jumping in to offer some support ( I jump on and off a lot). I got married at the suites last august and can answer some of your questions for you.

Beach ceremony? Beautiful (pray ALL week for good weather) the set up is right in front of Aunt Ruby's. For the bride planning a semi private dinner at  aunt ruby's that's a great transition and you don't have to worry about your guests wandering off to the bar.

Godfrey Guy? Yes that is he email address. No he's not an imposter...you have to remember he is a Jamaican. To our American culture Jamaicans can seem a bit pushy but your in good hands trust me. Check out his facebook page, that has pics of all of the weddings he's done including mine, a lot of them done at Iberostar. Another thing that's different in Jamaica than here in the U.S for flowers you have to book them way in advance to get a cheaper rate (like hotel rooms here in the US)

Wedding cake? The cake the resort provides is ugly and tastes horrible.

Make up? No one asked but I will offer this piece of advice. If you are allowing the resort to do your makeup book your apt early in the morning. In the event you do not like what they did you will have time to get someone else there to do it, or do it yourself. That is the one regret I have. I hated my makeup and I didn't have time to fix it. Be your own advocate and speak up. You are spending a lot of money to look beautiful for the most important day of your life.

Well that's all for today. Happy Planning! If you have additional questions I'm here to help

One last thing.

You do not have to use Tai Flowers and it's cheaper to pay the resort fee for Godfrey then to go with Tai Flowers. One of the reasons I did not use Tai Flowers they had awful communication. I reached out to them August of 2014 and they emailed me back June of 2015. I reached out to Godfrey and he emailed me back the same day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
