Bringing 'out Of Town Bags' To Cuba

Recommended Posts

Hi Brides!

I'm planning my wedding for 2016 in Cuba! I want to pack and bring out of town bags for all of our guests with little goodies in it. Does anyone have experience bringing these kind of things into Cuba? I'm planning on keeping and briginf receipts for everything I buy, but I'd be choked if it got taken away at customs.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Hello,

I searched Cuba customs and most pages I found re-iterated what is on this webpage.

http://gocuba.ca/client/tips/show.php?tip_id=7

We have one recent Cuba bride @@diadiamond

and maybe @@csho can jump in too but she hasn't been around in awhile.

I will find the other Varadero bride I can think of and edit my post with her username once I find it

All three of these ladies have planning threads if you did a quick look thru that thread.

Good luck!

EDIT - couldn't find the other one!!!      Even try doing a search for Cuba customs or Cuba planning up top and you will get tonnes of links to threads on this message board.

I got married last month at Iberostar Varadero.  I'm probably not the best person to help you out because I handed out my favours prior to leaving.  I don't think it should be a problem though.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.  Happy planning hun!

Thanks for your response! What were your favours if you don't mind me asking..? Also, how did you enjoy the iberostar. The resort we are going to is an iberostar one, but there are no ratings because it hasn't opened yet.

Ohhhh what's the name? We were in Cuba in 2014 but may go back for our anniversary! Would try a different place though. Love Cuba

Iberostar playa pilar in cayo Coco. It's set to open in Nov/Dec of this year.

Thanks! I was looking into Cayo Santa Maria but I think we may stick to Varadero as we like you can walk and explore on foot. Husband doesn't like being secluded from the towns and locals. Will be gorgeous though.

Hi @@Kirsteen!

I am getting married in Cayo Coco Cuba in 25 days! Ahhh!

I am planning on bringing a whole boat load of OOT bag items with me. I am certainly hoping that I will have no issues clearing customs. I honestly hadnt thought about it until I read your post. Eeeek!

I have been in contact with the on site wedding coordinator and she told me that the staff encourages brides to bring as much as they would like, so I just assumed this also meant OOT bag items???

I have complied a spreadsheet of everything that was included in the bags, and the approx cost of the items. I plan to keep this, and the receipts (that I can find, just moved), with me with the wedding items that I was told to keep with me at the airport.

All of our OOT items are being packed in our suitcases, and being farmed out to family memebers. My FI is carrying on our favours because they are glass.

After the wedding I can give you an update as to how it all went.

Fingers crossed for me and that things go smoothly! LOL

I haven't even thought of this with going into Mexico. I'm planning to bring a lot of OOT items and I didn't keep my receipts around. Hopefully I don't run into any issues!

Mexico does have a limit. They have a webpage. I brought my receipts, hotel confirmation and guest list just in case but didn't have any issues. The more recent brides on here who have been searched have stated it's for a wedding and have been ok too!!!

  • 1 month later...

Hi @@Kirsteen!

Just wanted to pop in and say that we had absolutely no issues with customs or anything when we arrived in Cuba. Like I mentioned above we did take a spreadsheet, some receipts, and emails between my wedding coordinator and I, but they did not ask to see it, at all! The most stressful part was that my husbands(weird to say that still, lol) luggage was 'lost' for a while. Thank god for the guys helping at the luggage pick up. I was about to have a melt down because half of our OOT bag items were in the luggage. Besides that, everything went more than smoothly!

Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
