Hi everyone!

We are in the process of finalizing our details for our wedding at the Grand Sunset Princess for June 2016.  Soooo excited and cannot wait for the day to come!

We are most likely going to have about 50-60 people, have booked it for June 8th at the Riviera side (we wanted the Sunset but were told it was booked).  Do you get a lot of traffic next to the Riviera Gazebo?  I was asking about an option to pay the extra $250 and have it right on the beach, but for some reason my travel agent said it can only be done on the Yucatan side, and no kids allowed.

Any brides recently get married there?  How has things changed as I saw some of the posts were from a few years back.

I would love to go with a private option for the reception and do the beach or the chill out lounge, however by the time you add it all up it gets super pricey (and that wasn't the intention with having a destination wedding).

I really appreciate any feedback or suggestions!

Thanks! :)

I'm getting married March of 2016 at the Sunset Princess :)

There are a few options for your reception besides the chillout, which is also more than I was willing to pay. We are having our ceremony at the Riviera Gazebo then we are having our dinner on the buffet because we have a lot of kids and food allergies :P The original plan was to have it in the restaurant but you only get one meal option and that wouldn't have worked for us. I'm not overly worried about it since it will be chaos with 8 kids in group anyway. I'm not decorating or any of that stuff for dinner, it's strictly for eating and running lol. It also gives me some flexibility with the times I set up for our photos with the photographer.

There are other options including renting the private banquet room for your meal and having a set menu meal that are a little cheaper than the chillout.

We are having a beach cocktail reception after our dinner from 8-11 with a dj and a private bar. This option is also a lot cheaper than the chillout reception. Its 35-38$ pp depending on what type of bar you have.

Hope some of the info was helpful

happy planning :)

Awesome! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I know what you mean about the set menu's being very difficult.  You cant expect all the guests to be ok with one set menu and no options.  Because of that reason, it kind of pushed us into having a private reception.  We booked the chill out reception from 6-10.

For other brides that have gotten married here, and went with the private reception.  How necessary is it to bring extra decorations from home, or purchase centre pieces?  Do they do a good job of decorating the place without the extras?

I was thinking to possibly just purchase nice bouqets for all the bridesmaids, and then if they can provide us with little vases, just use their bouqets as centre pieces.

Any suggestions are welcome!! Also.... we have the Riviera Gazebo booked for the ceremony (the sunset was not available).  Has anyone opted to go with the ocean gazebo setup for an extra 250 charge?

Thanks guys! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
