Tentative Royalton White Sands Jamaica Wedding

Thank god I found this website!! I was researching resort websites and getting so overwhelmed with so much information. My finace and I plan on getting married next October 2016. We THINK we are settled on Royalton White Sands Jamaica but can any ladies who got married there put my mind at ease by answering a few questions?

1) We are hopefully looking for the cost for our guests to be no more than $1500 all-inclusive (flight and resort) for 7 days. Have others found this is plausible for this time? Sometimes it appears to be sitting more around the $1700 mark

2) Just out of interest, how much did your wedding cost? We are looking at roughly 50 guests, just trying to budget

3) Did you have a private reception, was it good?

4) What kind of menu do they provide?

5) How attentive is the wedding planner? Do they answer in a timely manner?

If you have any recent photos that would help please!!

Congrats and welcome!! Jamaica is a beautiful place to get married! There have been a couple of brides at Royalton and some future brides as well. I've attached one of the threads that I found. Definitely do a search in the search bar at the top of the page and a couple more will come up along with reviews. If you spend some time reading you'll probably get your questions answered, or at least a couple of them.

The other thing is a travel agent. They will be invaluable with taking care of your guests while you plan your wedding! You can speak to them about your wants and don't wants and your budget and the budget you would like for your guests. They can also help out with possible group perks you might be entitled to so definitely worth talking to one to see if there is anything that you might qualify for. You don't say what country you're located in - if you ask the ladies here will definitely provide TA recommendations!

Good luck and happy planning!

Hi there, we are getting married at the Royalton White Sands on May 4, 2016. Our guests are paying $1683 including taxes for 7 days flying from Toronto, I am not sure where you are flying out from. I have all the pricing brochures and I can email them to you if you would like. We are having a private reception on the beach. We have 50 guests attending.

The great thing about the wedding planner is she is based in Toronto. There is a wedding planner in Jamaica, but you will only deal with them when you arrive. I have been speaking to Ashley from Toronto and she has been great at answering all my questions.

Did you have at least 40 people? I have read that if you have under 40 that it can't be private. I even read a bride here that said she paid the extra money to make it private, all the way up till she got there, they then told her that there were too many reservations for the night made and she wasn't going to be able to make the restaurant private.

Hi - I think that is true actually, that you need 40 people to have one of the restaurants for a private reception. We had 67 and our reception was at Calabash. It was $800 extra to have it private. I am surprised by the other brides experience - I'm part of a Facebook group just for brides at the Iberostars in Jamaica and I've never heard anything like that! So I really don't think that is anything to worry about.

Lots of brides do a private tented reception on the beach, or do the semi-private dinner and then a private bonfire on the beach for dancing. Or the semi-private dinner with a private reception in the Music Lounge or in the disco. Our rehearsal dinner was semi-private at the steakhouse and we could not tell at all that there were other people in the restaurant. There were in a separate section and we didn't even see them until we were walking out.

We got married in June so I was worried about it being really hot, which is why I wanted it inside!

I decided to go with the Royalton white sands! My fiancé doesn't want a beach reception and I'm firm on the private reception so unfortunately I didn't want to risk it at the iberostar. I think both places are lovely and we are lucky to get married at either one!

  • 2 weeks later...

Good Evening Ladies,

Second day on this site trying to figure out how it all works! =)  I am a "Newbie" and my FI and I are getting married at the RWS on August 8th....

Any suggestions and pics would be super appreciated!!  We cannot decide if its worth the extra $$ to get married on the beach or if we should put that money into a beach dinner etc.

Did anyone have a dance floor? First dance? How did timing work out??

Pics??? We travelled to RWS for a weekend and the resort is gorgeous...really hard however to find wedding pics anywhere for inspiration.

What did anyone bring for decorations for wedding/reception if any???

What is overpriced and not worth it?

Lanterns? Sparklers??

Suggestions advice tips appreciated =)

Anyone looking for room feedback we took a tour while we were there... BEST resort ever for families!! Kids will LOVE the water park!!!

Congrats to everyone on this site!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
