Cruisebride2016 Cruise Wedding Planning Thread

Recommended Posts

Ugh that is frustrating. Not only that you lost your travel agent but that the company didn't move quicker knowing your deadline was fast approaching. Deadlines are stressful without that chaos! I hope she sorted it all out as she said she did and you can get some confirmation tomorrow. Good luck!

That does suck! I hope everything works out. Not cool on the part of the travel agency. Our TA also left, but I was contacted directly by the new agent to let me know. I appreciated the way they handled it (and more so reading your story). Good luck!

I'm so sorry to hear about what you've had to go through. I know it's no consolation, but a few brides to be here have had TA issues, and it just makes me feel so badly for you. I really hope you get it sorted out soon, or at least that you get the answers you need and get a new agent to work with!!

April isn't far off!!

Well, everything worked out ok with our cabin release with our new travel agent. From the communication I have had with her, I actually feel she will be more on top of all the details than the previous travel agent. So, I am looking forward to working with her.

FLOWERS

Initially, I had planned to order flowers through our wedding coordinator in Jamaica. As I talked with my fiance, he was really hoping to get a blue flower for his boutonniere since our wedding color is blue. I think it might be hard to guarantee that we would get a blue flower in Jamaica. Also, since we will be going back onto a cruise, it might be hard to bring our flowers back on board or back into the US. Therefore, we are looking into getting real touch flowers so that we would be able to keep them and get exactly what we want. I looked through some posts on here and found good reviews about Bloom Bridal. Their website says they are not accepting short-notice orders. My wedding is in April, so I think it might be considered short-notice for them. I emailed on Sunday to see if they would be able to do a bouquet and boutonniere for us, but haven't heard back yet. Does anyone else have other recommendations for real touch flowers?

@@cruisebride2016 Glad to hear things are getting better with the TA!

I completely understand about the flowers, I'm bringing my own so I can guarantee we get our colours and exact flowers we want.  I've purchased all my flowers from Michael's, they have that real touch feel, you can see them in the link to my thread in my signature.

Depending on the flowers you want and the quantity you may be able to swing a really good price with Michael's using their coupons.  I was in Michael's on Monday and they are starting to bring all their flowers out now, some really beautiful blue flowers too! - I also just realized you're in the States - I don't know if you have a Michael's there or anything similar?

@@deecol Thanks for the suggestions of Michaels. Yes, we do have them here. Unfortunately, I am not crafty at all, so making my own bouquet is out of the question.

I did some more research on this website tonight and found suggestions of Lily of Angeles (on Etsy) and Plumerias Wedding Flower Boutique. Has anyone used either of these vendors?

I've never heard of them! But I do know a lot use bloom bridal. Did you reach out of them and see if April would be considered rush/short term? I personally think that would be ok date wise my only concern would be shipping as two different countries. Good luck

@@calgarybride2015 I sent Bloom Bridal an email and submitted an order form and haven't heard anything back from them.

I reached out to Lily of Angeles (Etsy) and Plumerias Wedding Flower Boutique and both of them said that they could get me flowers before April with no problem. With the holiday I will probably wait until next week to make a decision, but it is nice to at least know I have some options. I would still love opinions on these two companies if anyone has used them.

We have 100 days until we get onto our wedding cruise!!

So, here are some updates on the planning process:

WEDDING COLORS

We have chosen Turquoise Blue and White as our wedding colors. You can see the color of the ribbon that will be used on the chairs during the ceremony.

FLOWERS

We have decided to go with Lily of Angeles from Etsy and get silk flowers. We really liked one of the bouquets and just want to make a few adjustments to it, so we thought it would be easier to have the original creator recreate it rather than having someone else try to do it. It will be a combination of these 2 bouquets.

ROSE CEREMONY

We will be doing a modified rose ceremony during the ceremony. Normally, the bride and groom exchange red roses or the bride gives the groom the vase and the groom gives the bride a rose. Instead, we will make it a bit more like a sand ceremony. We will have each family give us a white flower, then Manny and I will each put a red rose in. We have been talking with MyDaileyCreations on Etsy about a custom vase for the ceremony. The attached picture is just a mock-up of the vase. We are still trying to pick a saying. We have it narrowed down to three:

On sea or land...anchored forever
For the hearts treasure together we set sail
We're navigating to the shores of the heart

TOASTING GLASSES

We are planning to get champagne or wine glasses to use for toasting. We might get ones that are matching to the vase (at least the picture of the cruise ship with out name and date) or we might get ones off Etsy.

CAKE TOPPER

We have ordered a custom cake topper from EnchantedYou54449 on Etsy that we think will be perfect for our cruise wedding! Attached is the picture from Etsy, but it will be customized for our ship and to look like us.

Well, I think this is the major updates of what we have been doing. Hope everyone has a very happy 2016!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
